WWE Hall Of Famer The Godfather, real name Charles Wright, underwent hip surgery this week.
In a post on Facebook, he noted that he underwent an operation on his hip at MountainView Hospital in Las Vegas. He mentioned it’s an operation he’s needed for some time.
The Godfather initially wrote, “Finally getting that hip surgery done. [laughing emoji x 2].”
In a second post, he shared an update and confirmed that the surgery was a success:“Hip replacement surgery went real well. And I will say that morphine is a hell of a drug.. [thumbs up emoji] [cloud emoji x 4] [train emoji],” he wrote.
He is best remembered for his tenure in WWE in the 1990s and early 2000s, where he portrayed various gimmicks, including Papa Shango, Kama, Kama Mustafa, The Godfather, and The Goodfather.
He held the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championships, WWE Intercontinental Championship, and WWE World Tag Team Championship.
The Godfather has not wrestled since 2014. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016. We wish him a speedy recovery.
