WWE has a big decision to make on February 14th

The New York Post has a story up about the negotiations between NBC Universal and WWE. NBCU has until February 14th to make the decision to accept the deal offered to them by offered by WWE or WWE is free to negotiate with other networks. If WWE opts to negotiate with other networks and they don’t get as good of a deal then they might have to go back to negotiating with NBCU and NBCU will have the leverage so it’s something WWE needs to be careful about.

WWE could land on Fox Sports 1 and Spike TV if they are interested. No word publicly though from Spike on how much interest they’d have. If WWE decides to stay on USA then TNA would breathe easier. WWE’s current deal is for $140 million dollars which is much lower than other live sports. WWE has positioned itself as live sports since live sports generate more revenue from network deals. Vince McMahon feels that the company deserves much more for their new deal. WWE is looking to sell all of their programming as a package but has been open to splitting up their shows so in theory Raw could stay on USA and Smackdown could move to another network if it came down to that.
