Fans of WWE NXT UK were excited when WWE announced during last Saturday’s NXT TakeOver: XXX event that new programming from the brand would start on September 17th.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the NXT UK crew was brought together this week for both training and taping shows at the BT Sport Studio.
It was noted that WWE taped tons of programming with the plan to have the first new show on the date listed above although it will be empty arena shows.
Meltzer wrote, “The number we were told was eight shows taped this week though mid-November, but that number wasn’t confirmed.”
Just a few months ago, there was speculation regarding the brand due to them not holding shows since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as several members of the NXT UK roster having had accusations made against them.
Jack Gallagher, Travis Banks, and Ligero were released from WWE due to accusations. Despite the uncertainty around the brand, Triple H had previously talked about in a conference call that the company had plans to start airing new shows, but had to figure out how to do it safely.
