WWE has apparently backtracked on a change that was made to Matt Riddle’s name

It looks like WWE is backing off on using “Riddle” as Matt Riddle’s only name.

This week on WWE Friday Night SmackDown while talking about the upcoming Money In The Bank pay-per-view, Michael Cole referred to Matt Riddle and not just Riddle. That is not by accident because he said his full name twice.

Vince McMahon made the decision a few months ago to drop his first name and Dave Meltzer reported that it had to do with the lawsuit that was filed by Samatha Tavel that alleges that Riddle sexually assaulted her in 2017. Basically, the feeling was that fans would see stories about the lawsuit if they Googled his full name so it was decided to just have him use his last name.

The lawsuit is still active against Riddle but the parts that had WWE and Gabe Sapolsky and WWE as defendants have been dismissed.

As of this writing, Riddle is still listed by his last name on the roster page.
