The big “shake up” promised by the McMahon family has caused WWE to change direction on a few storylines.
When Shane McMahon won the World Cup at the Crown Jewel show in Saudi Arabia, that was supposed to be the start of a storyline that would lead to McMahon turning heel.
However, the McMahon’s indicated this week that the days of the evil authority figures suffocating wrestlers are over.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that the McMahon heel turn was supposed to happen in January but it appears to have been dropped.
There was a reason why SmackDown got shut out at Survivor Series (it could have been related to the McMahon heel turn) but those plans have apparently been dropped as well.
For whatever it’s worth, there was a development in the McMahon/Miz angle at the recent tapings that will air this coming Tuesday. Click here for more on that.
Don’t expect to see too many big angles on WWE TV until January when they go live again. That is also when they will start the major hype for the Royal Rumble.
