WWE has assembled a team to find a way to run Raw and SmackDown events at outdoor venues
It’s been well documented that Vince McMahon wants to run events with fans again, but has found challenges in doing so due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the last few months, plans put in place to resume television events with actual fans in attendance have been delayed. In fact, the WWE Chairman looked at various locations to have fans in attendance for the SummerSlam pay-per-view event.
When that couldn’t happen, WWE inked a deal with the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, and transformed the arena into the WWE ThunderDome. The contract with the arena expires after October.
WrestleVotes sent out a tweet today noting that WWE has put a team together in order to find a way to have weekly television events at outdoor venues. Perhaps this could be a way for WWE to have fans back at their shows.
“Over the past week or so, WWE assembled a small team to figure out if running TV from outdoors venues would be fesisble once the ThunderDome contract expires. Idea is both SD & RAW would be in same location each week. Southern states with good weather is the preference. All TBD.”

Jon Alba also followed up on this report and suggested a potential venue in Tampa:
There are multiple outdoor venues #WWE could explore in Florida, should it choose to once the ThunderDome deal in Orlando ends at the end of October. The MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa immediately comes to mind, plus any other venues (should they bring canopies).

Hurricane season wraps up in Florida around this time, which makes that rather ideal for running outdoors. Finding spacious venues with vigilant protocols for fan safety will be key. Most Florida sports teams have run safely with limited fans so far. #WWE
