John Cena had some fun at WrestleMania 35 when he brought back the Dr. of Thuganomics in a segment with Elias but it looks like Cena is ready to do something bigger at WrestleMania 36 in Tampa.
As reported by @WrestleVotes, Cena wants to do “something substantial” at WrestleMania and not just an appearance like last year.
Cena was originally supposed to wrestle against Lars Sullivan at WrestleMania 35. The storyline was supposed to kick off last January with Sullivan attacking Cena but those plans were scrapped when Sullivan flew home after suffering an anxiety attack.
Cena has told people that he has not shut the door on wrestling again but it would be on a limited basis since he doesn’t feel like his body can handle multiple matches per year and he has a lot on his plate with movie and TV commitments.
Another reason why Cena would want to do something substantial at WrestleMania 36 is the show will take place in Tampa where he currently lives.
I asked a WWE source about Cena and I was told that there are big plans in the works for him but nothing has been locked in yet. The match with Sullivan has been discussed as an option. The word from people in WWE is that Cena will likely be wrestling on the show.
