WWE NXT brought nostalgia for many fans as it was held at the old home of ECW at the 2300 Arena a few weeks ago.
To make it even more special, ECW originals appeared, including Rhyno, Nunzio, and D-Von Dudley. NXT Champion Trick Williams teamed up with Bubba Ray Dudley in a tag team match against Ethan Page and Ridge Holland. Also, in a hardcore match between Jaida Parker and Lola Vice, Dawn Marie was the special guest referee while RVD helped Je’Von Evans go over Wes Lee.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that nobody has taken credit for the idea within the company. It was stated that WWE’s plans to run the show go back a little way and are not specifically earmarked for November 8th, as they always intended to run the arena.
Meltzer wrote, “It was just an idea to do at some point. Then, when they realized that they would be going head-to-head with AEW on 11/8, the decision was made to play that card on that night. There’s now talk about making it an annual thing, which makes sense as when it comes to TV, different locations that are unique are a good thing.”
WWE returned to the Performance Center in Orlando, FL, this past Tuesday night.
