WWE has discussed NXT 2.0 returning to live event touring relatively soon

WWE hasn’t held an NXT house show in Florida since March 2020, but that could be changing in the near future as the company is looking to take its developmental brand back on the road.

Dave Meltzer noted on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE has talked about getting NXT back on tour with the idea that they would run small shows around Florida, but won’t be touring nationally as they had been before the pandemic and the rebranding of NXT.

This isn’t the first time the company has considered going back on the road with NXT. Last June, it was reported WWE wanted NXT to return to touring in July, but that didn’t happen.

“Yeah, we’ve been talking about this for months and months and months and obviously, it’s needed. In fact, there have been talks and it’s not official official, but they’re probably going to start touring relatively soon. I heard that last year. There was a time when it was like, ‘it’s about to happen,’ and then they didn’t pull the trigger. It’s back to the talking stage and serious talking. There’s, like I said, nothing official, but the belief is that they will be touring.

Meltzer stated that NXT is likely to draw a few hundred people for these shows as a way for the younger wrestlers to get more ring time in front of fans.

Meltzer added, “it’s just something that they need to do and it looks like they’ll be doing it soon. Often they’ll say that and sometimes things move very slowly there.”
