WWE Has No Interest in Bringing Back CM Punk, Talks Are Dead for Now

After there being conflicting reports on whether CM Punk and WWE were in talks to see him make a return, in recent days, it has become clear that the former WWE star is not returning to the company.

It was originally reported that the two sides were in talks with Punk, intending to make a return, but a deal wasn’t reached. It was later noted by WWE talent and a higher-up that no talks were ongoing.

On Tuesday, it was reported WWE turned down bringing back CM Punk for now, a decide made by Vince McMahon, Nick Khan and Triple H.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the talks between the two sides are done with it being a “no” regarding the possibility of WWE bringing him back.

Meltzer wrote, “It was strong enough that company officials would be willing to say that they have no interest at this point and talks are dead right now. But I was also told not to close the door completely on it because it’s wrestling.”

WWE’s business has been on a hot streak over the last few years, with attendance, merchandise sales, and media rights fees combining for record revenue.
