WWE has purchased EVOLVE Wrestling

It’s official, after weeks of rumors about the future of EVOLVE, news has come out that WWE has indeed purchased the promotion. PWInsider reported the news today and WrestlingNews.co has confirmed the story.

EVOLVE was used as a feeder system for WWE developmental and there had been talk of EVOLVE shows airing regularly on the WWE Network after they announced additional paid tiers. However, rumors have been swirling in recent weeks about the company having financial issues with WWE heavily rumored to have purchased them.

The purchase of EVOLVE gives them access to their tape library that includes names like Mia Yim, AR Fox, Bobby Fish, Eddie Kingston, The Young Bucks, Sabu, Daniel Bryan, Austin Aries, Zack Sabre Jr. Ethan Page, Trent, Cedric Alexander and many others.

Despite occasional plugs from WWE on their website and an EVOLVE special that ran on the WWE Network last year, that was not enough to boost EVOLVE’s business as ticket and merchandise sales were not enough to keep the company afloat.

There is no word yet on how many (if any) of the contracted EVOLVE talent will be offered deals with WWE.
