WWE Has Strongly Talked About Having John Cena Challenge For A World Title At WrestleMania 41

There are high expectations from fans regarding John Cena’s WWE retirement tour that kicks off next year.

Cena’s retirement from in-ring competition in WWE was announced at the Money in the Bank event earlier this summer in a surprise appearance. After the confusion cleared, Cena stated that the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania in 2025 will mark his final appearances in the ring.

The former WWE Champion aims to wrestle all year and targets 36 dates with the company. He will also be on Netflix’s first Raw. There has been speculation among fans whether Cena could break the World Title record, currently tied between Cena and Ric Flair at 16 reigns, to make him a 17-time World Champion.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that the idea has been talked about. Meltzer wrote, “We do know that the idea of Cena challenging one of the two champions, in an effort to have him break Flair’s record is something strongly talked about, including for Mania.”

Countless WWE stars have called out Cena for a match in his final year of competition.
