WWE has tried to oppose Cody Rhodes over some WCW trademarks

Cody Rhodes has been filing for trademarks of previous WCW themes to use in AEW

Rhodes was able to get the “Bash at the Beach” trademark, which will be used for a theme of an upcoming episode of AEW Dynamite. On November 19th, he also filed for trademarks on “Slamboree” and “SuperBrawl.”

Rhodes currently has the following live trademarks:

  • SuperBrawl
  • Slamboree
  • The Match Beyond
  • Bash at the Beach
  • Dusty Rhodes
  • The American Nightmare
  • The Prince of Wrestling
  • Bunkhouse Stampede
  • Battlebowl
  • The American Dream

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “WWE has tried to oppose some of the trademarks that Cody was attempting to gain the rights to.”

According to the report, the exact trademarks that WWE is opposing aren’t known but as seen above, Rhodes has been trying to get the rights to the intellectual property rights to a lot of WCW names that WWE hasn’t used or trademarked.

Rhodes has been trying to get the rights to the ideas that his father, the late, great, WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes came up with.
