There are big plans for Gable Steveson even though he only recently signed with WWE.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there are plans for the gold medalist to debut at WrestleMania.
Meltzer wrote, “It was known that the company wants to feature Steveson all year on the show before the idea is of him starting as a regular after the college wrestling season ends in March, with the idea of a WrestleMania debut.”
Steveson was part of the WWE Draft and his draft announcement was presented similar to a college football athlete being drafted into the NFL. Steveson was shown reacting at his home with his parents cheering him on. For whatever reason, Steveson was one of the late picks in the draft behind several wrestlers who are featured in the mid card.
WWE has done everything to accommodate Steveson. He will continue full-time amateur wrestling while attending college and he will train for the NCAA tournament. WWE is setting up a training facility for him near his home and he will do some occasional training in Orlando at the Performance Center.
