Dave Meltzer confirmed today the story by Fightful about WWE pushing to get Ronda Rousey for the Royal Rumble on Saturday. As noted earlier, Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live that he was told that she would be at the show.
Meltzer added that Rousey is definitely on the books for WrestleMania and her being at the Rumble this Saturday would set up her Mania match.
Meltzer said that when he asked about Rousey being a surprise for the Rumble, it was not denied to him and some notes about her involvement at WrestleMania were confirmed. It was said that there are plans on the table for her return.
Rousey has been absent from WWE programming since wrestling Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair in a Triple Threat match. She lost the title to Lynch and her deal was set to expire at last year’s WrestleMania. WWE was hoping to get her back last year but that was around the time when she found out she was pregnant.
