WWE Hires Emmy-Nominated As New Director Of Show Production And Design

WWE has hired Emmy-nominated production professional Hunter Selby as its new Director of Show Production and Design, a behind-the-scenes move that could visibly impact how the company’s television product looks in the near future.

Selby confirmed the news himself on LinkedIn, writing: “I’m excited to share that I’ve accepted a new position as Director of Show Production and Design at WWE. I’m looking forward to this new chapter, and to working on some designs that will hopefully be debuting on screens soon.”

He received Emmy nominations in 2023 for his lighting work on American Idol, and again in 2025 for both SNL50: The Homecoming Concert and another run with American Idol. That level of recognition in high-profile live television production signals WWE is making a meaningful investment in upgrading its visual presentation.

The Director of Show Production and Design role sits at the center of WWE’s on-screen programming, touching everything from stage design and lighting to the overall aesthetic of weekly shows and premium live events. The hire comes shortly after the departure of Gavin O’Shea, who served as WWE’s Director of TV Production for 25 years before announcing last week that he was no longer with the company.

With Selby teasing that some of his designs could begin appearing on WWE programming soon, fans may notice differences in the visual presentation of Raw and SmackDown in the weeks ahead.
