WWE ID Championship Tournament Format Announced

WWE is launching its inaugural WWE ID Championship tournaments, with the opening rounds taking place this month.

The WWE ID program is a strategic partnership between WWE and independent promotions and training schools. Participants receive financial support and access to WWE training facilities.

It will start at independent wrestling shows during WrestleMania 41 week. The tournament, designed to crown the first-ever WWE ID Champions, will begin with matches at GCW’s event on Wednesday, April 16th, held at The Collective at The Palms in Las Vegas.

Other opening-round matches will follow at FSW’s show on Friday, April 18th, at the FSW Arena. The tournament winners will defend their titles on the independent circuit. WWE has confirmed the following talent bookings for both the GCW and FSW events: Sean Legacy, Zayda Steel, Ice Williams, Jackson Drake, Swipe Right (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes), Zara Zakher, and Cappuccino Jones.

The WWE ID Twitter account posted the following format:

-The Men’s Championship will see a double elimination Opening Round. When a competitor loses two matches, they are eliminated.

-The Opening Round will continue across various independent wrestling promotions until there are four remaining.

-The final four will compete in a single elimination format.

-The Women’s Championship will be determined in a round robin format, which will take place in various independent wrestling promotions.
