WWE is continuing to test new tag team in NXT

It looks like WWE officials were impressed with the form of Tony Nese and Mike Kanellis as a tag team.

Last month, the two WWE stars teamed up together at NXT live events. At the time, PWinsider.com reported that this was a test run for them and if things go well then they will be used regularly as a team on NXT TV shows.

Fast forward a few weeks later, the former cruiserweight and Raw stars were back together when WWE held an NXT live event on Friday in Citrus Springs, FL at the Citrus Springs. They beat Shane Thorne and Daniel Vidot with their finisher which is a combination knee strike and powerslam.

Kanellis had been on a hiatus as an active in-ring performer after he asked for his WWE release back in September. That changed when he was moved to NXT and worked a live event back on January 17th.

At this point, it’s clear that WWE has no intention of granting the release of Kanellis
