When Jinder Mahal started getting the big push for the WWE Championship, we noted that the main reason why he is getting pushed is because of WWE’s expansion to India. We also noted that they have a tour in India in September. Well, it looks like the tour is not happening this year. WWE’s schedule does not have India listed as part of their live events tour this year.
Last year, the company sent out Alberto Del Rio (Alberto El Patron) to do interviews in the region. He told a reporter that WWE was planning on going back in September so apparently, those plans changed. I guess that changes everything because Mahal would have likely remained as WWE Champion until after the tour. Now that we know it’s not happening, then it’s anybody’s guess as to when he will drop the title.
Mahal is scheduled to defend the title on June 13th but it’s not clear if that match will air on Smackdown Live or if it will be a dark match. WWE is advertising a triple main event for that show. Click here to read more on that. He is also scheduled to defend the title at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view.
