WWE is replacing Backlash with a new pay-per-view

WWE has officially replaced the previously scheduled Backlash pay-per-view event with a new show. The Stomping Grounds pay-per-view event will take place on Sunday, June 23 at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA. This venue holds over 23,000 seats.

The news was made when the venue announced that WWE will hold a new pay-per-view event at the arena in a video posted Monday, which you can see here:

It was also hyped that Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns will take place “for the first time ever in Tacoma.” WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins and WWE Champion Kofi Kingston are also advertised to appear. As of this writing, their opponents have yet to be announced.

This pay-per-view replaced the Backlash show that was supposed to take place on June 16th. The reason for the schedule changes is due to the Saudi Arabia show being moved from early May to early June.

There’s also been talk of WWE moving an NXT San Jose TakeOver show that was listed on their schedule to another date and possible location. WWE has yet to publically commented on this potential move.
