Fans can expect to hear a new voice on the broadcasts of WWE Monday Night Raw.
Wrestling Inc reported on Saturday that Adnan Virk will be taking over the role of the play-by-play commentator for the show starting this Monday. This means that Tom Phillips is out of the role, which he had been doing since last year. There’s no word yet on why the decision was made.
Before Phillips had the role, Vic Joseph was the lead announcer for WWE’s flagship show, and Phillips had been the lead play-by-play announcer for SmackDown, NXT and NXT UK.
Virk, who is a Canadian sportscaster, was the previous host of The Score in Canada, which is basically their version of ESPN’s SportsCenter, in addition to him working for ESPN from 2010 until 2019.
WWE has also brought in some new on-air personalities for their other programming such as ex-Bellator and UFC announcer Jimmy Smith, who debuted this week on the TakeOver pre-shows for NXT Takeover. It’s not clear if he’s in temporarily or full-time. Kevin Patrick was also recently brought in to be part of the Raw broadcast team to replace Charly Caruso. It also comes at a time where Charly Caruso has left the company.
