WWE is reportedly targeting Major League Wrestling

We’ve all heard the stories over the years about WWE targeting promotions that appear to be gaining some traction. The upcoming UK Championship Tournament will be held next month, in part, because WWE knows that World Of Sport is about to relaunch on iTV.

Now, WWE is targeting Major League Wrestling, the promotion owned by entrepreneur and ex-WWE creative team writer Court Bauer.

In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE has been getting aggressive trying to sign independent talent and MLW is a target since they have a weekly TV show on beIN Sports (Friday nights at 8 pm eastern).

According to legal papers that were sent, MLW was advised by the talent what they were offered by WWE and MLW let WWE know that their key talent are under contract. However, WWE told wrestlers that they should still go in for a tryout at the Performance Center so they could be around their system. The key talent in MLW have signed multi-year deals.

I guess Vince McMahon has heard the buzz surrounding MLW and he wants to hurt them before they get too big.

Speaking of MLW, you can watch the weekly MLW Fusion show on the beIN Sports YouTube channel if you are not able to watch it through your cable provider.
