There was a brief note on Charlotte Flair today by Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer website.
Meltzer said that a source said to him in regards to her situation, “It’s a tricky situation, isn’t it? Does WWE just hand her over to AEW?”
The person also said that if the company disciplines her then they seemingly would have to do the same to others over their backstage behavior. The source added, “They have their hands full with this situation.”
Wade Keller reported over the weekend that there’s a feeling that Flair feels like she can get away with her behavior because she brings star power that is needed on the SmackDown roster. FOX requested her so it may not go over well if she was pulled from TV.
On the other hand, Keller noted that Flair’s issue with Lynch is not the only issue she has had and the locker room is overwhelmingly on Lynch’s side and Lynch is being seen as a hero for stepping up and not putting up with Flair’s antics.
Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the impression he was given was that the “FU WWE” tweet from Andrade El Idolo on Friday night was in reference to what happened backstage at SmackDown.
WWE has not commented on the situation but, as noted before, they edited the footage from the encore broadcast of SmackDown that aired on FOX on Saturday night. WWE removed the part where Flair dropped the title. You can see the original and edited footage by clicking here.
