WWE Is Still Planning To Move SmackDown Back To Two Hours This Summer

Once it was announced that WWE SmackDown would shift to a three-hour show in January, there were reports that it would return to two hours sometime in the summer.

WrestleVotes (via Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass Patreon) first reported that the three-hour SmackDown is temporary. The show will return to two hours in six months, sometime in June.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted he had been told the idea was to move it back after the last week of May, which would be June 6th. He has not confirmed the exact date, but that’s the time frame.

Bryan Alvarez: “Hey, by the way, is it true? Like, what is it June 6?”

Meltzer: “I don’t have that confirmed, but it’s going to be right around that time. Yes.”

Alvarez: “The move back to two hours.”

Meltzer: “I’ve asked around, and no one has gotten back to me, but, you know, I was told months ago that it’s essentially the end of May, when it’s going to happen. So it’s going to be one of those weeks right around then. Yeah, so we got about….I guess a little over a month, right? We’re right at a month of SmackDowns before they go back to two, which, you know, is going to be better for a lot of reasons.”
