WWE is taking steps to keep NXT wrestlers away from AEW and elsewhere with longer contract offers

Several months ago, WWE changed their contract offers from three to five year years for main roster talent.

The company is now taking steps to lock in their NXT talent to longer deals to keep them from testing the free agency market with All Elite Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling and elsewhere.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that NXT contracts are now five-year deals instead of three for beginners. So, someone who builds a name for themselves in NXT can’t just decide to leave and sign with AEW, for example.

This is great for wrestlers that have very little experience because they are pretty much guaranteed good pay for at least five years and maybe longer if they sign new deals when they move up to the main roster.

Whether you are a fan of AEW or not, the one thing everyone can agree on is the competition is great for the wrestling business as more wrestlers are making guaranteed money these days.
