WWE is working on big names, big ideas and surprises for first SmackDown Live on FOX

Some quick notes that were passed along to me about the October 4th SmackDown Live on FOX.

WWE has a list of names they want to appear on SmackDown Live and I am told that John Cena will be able to appear on that show because he will be in Los Angeles during that week.

As previously noted, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE is looking to load up on celebrities because they want a big event feel, similar to a big UFC or boxing event. That is why they booked the show for the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

I was told that fans should expect so see some of the usual celebrities that attend shows but they are also hoping to attract some big A-listers so they can be shown on camera.

One name that I asked about was The Rock. As of now, there have been no talks with him about appearing on the show but they still have 3 months so anything is possible but, as usual, everything depends on his movie schedule. Either way, there will be some big names on the show with some surprises in mind.

Also as previously noted, Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that FOX has been testing out new cameras to use on the debut show on 10/4. I was told that the idea of doing a post-game show on Fox Sports 1 (for the debut episode only) has been talked about. They have also discussed doing a red carpet event as part of their effort to make this a “must-see” event so they can (hopefully) start out with a monster rating.
