WWE is working on getting a major name on the first SmackDown on FOX

There’s been a lot of speculation on who will show up for SmackDown’s move to FOX on October 4.

During the WWE investor conference call, they made a point to note that WWE will be in more homes thanks to FOX. So naturally, they will want to make a big splash for their FOX debut show.

For weeks, there’s been speculation on The Rock possibly being booked for the show. Dave Meltzer confirmed this week that WWE is hoping to get The Rock as the “big hook” for the October 4 show.

At this point, he is not committed to doing the show but that is something that is being talked about.

Aside from a possible appearance from The Rock, WWE plans on bringing in celebrities and other big names to give the show a major event feel.

Also, as noted several days ago, there are plans to do a bus tour across several cities to hype the FOX debut. The bus tour would be something like a modern version of the Lex Express tour that was used to hype Lex Luger’s match with Yokozuna at SummerSlam 93.
