WWE issues statement following report of WrestleMania 37 moving away from Los Angeles

It was reported on Friday morning that WWE has plans in place to move WrestleMania 37 from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Inside The Ropes first reported the news. It has since been confirmed by Dave Meltzer, Jon Alba, and WrestleVotes.

Alba, who works as a reporter at Spectrum News 13, reached out to WWE for a comment on the report. WWE issued the following statement:

“We have nothing to report and given the current environment, we continue to monitor locations for all of our potential events.”

WrestleVotes noted that WWE has had Tampa internally listed as the host city for this show for over a month. Here’s the report:

“Now that news is out, I can say that WWE has had Tampa listed as the host city internally for over a month. The battle w/ the city of Los Angeles about who can legally cancel the event & when is still underway. However, IF we get a traditional WrestleMania, Tampa Bay will host.”

The date as it still stands is March 28, 2021 for WrestleMania 37.

It would appear likely that WWE will sell tickets to WrestleMania, but with the COVID-19 pandemic, anything can happen at any given time. WWE was supposed to hold WrestleMania 36 from Tampa, but that of course was nixed due to the pandemic.
