WWE issues statement on Matt Hardy’s departure

In an interesting move that is not done for most wrestlers who choose to allow their contracts to expire, WWE acknowledged Matt Hardy’s departure from the company with a write-up on WWE.com that included some notes on his contributions to the company.

The WWE.com article noted that Matt has been a trailblazer during his 19-year WWE career along with his brother Jeff as they pioneered the first tag team Ladder and TLC matches.

The article also mentioned his “uncanny connection” to the WWE Universe over the years and his transformation from the “gravity-defying daredevil” to one of the “most eccentric personas ever” as “Woken” Matt Hardy.

The WWE.com article ended with the following: “WWE thanks Matt Hardy for his contributions to sports-entertainment and the WWE Universe and wishes him the best in his future endeavors.”

As noted earlier, Matt has not closed the door on a WWE return and said that perhaps, he will be back as a Hall Of Fame inductee. It’s worth noting that there is interest in him to work in NXT. Of course, several promotions are likely interested in signing him as well, including All Elite Wrestling. As noted earlier, there appeared to be a Matt Hardy tease in the latest Being The Elite.
