WWE keeping injury status of NXT star quiet

WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor and Kyle O'Reilly presented a stiff style in their title match at NXT TakeOver 31.

As a result, O'Reilly had some broken teeth and Balor broke his jaw in two place. Neither star was physically at the Capitol Wrestling Center on Wednesday’s NXT episode. Instead, WWE aired a video package which featured O'Reilly talking about the match.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported on Thursday that he wasn’t able to get any real updates on O'Reilly. He was “only told that they were playing things close to the vest.” He tried to reach out to WWE, but didn’t get a response.

Moving along to today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez talked about the video package and how WWE didn’t provide any more details on O’Reilly.

Although not confirmed and purely speculation at this time, O’Reilly mave have suffered a concussion in the match. He brought up how WWE will announce any sort of injuries except when wrestlers suffer a concussion.

“They didn’t say what his injuries were, it certainly leads to one to speculate since there is the one thing they won’t tell you if that’s someone’s injury..they’ll tell you every single injury except when someone has a concussion. I’m not saying Kyle has a concussion, but the fact that they said he was injured and 100% wouldn’t be able to do TV, that tells me he has a pretty serious injury and they won’t tell us what it is, so hate to be one to speculate, but that certainly sounds like a concussion.”
