Jeff Jarrett says Joe Hendry’s time to establish himself in WWE may be running out, suggesting the crossover from TNA has yet to build the kind of traction that guarantees a long-term spot on the main roster.
Speaking on My World, Jarrett gave a pointed assessment when asked about Hendry’s WWE run. “I think he’s got a window that’s closing in.”
He elaborated by pointing to a fundamental challenge facing wrestlers who make the jump from outside promotions and find themselves working for a different audience than the one that made them a name.
“How is he being perceived right now in the Raw rooms, the SmackDown rooms, the writers rooms? Because when guys make the transition from Europe, NXT, or TNA on their way up, is he going to keep that same traction? There’s a crossover, a big crossover, but it’s a different audience, and I’m not sure the Joe Hendry character has caught traction. And will they give it enough time to really catch traction? I don’t know.”
Hendry became a significant fan favorite in TNA, winning the TNA World Heavyweight Championship before making the move to WWE programming. He has been featured in ongoing Raw storylines, including a comedic rivalry that has used his musical background as a central piece of his character presentation.
Jarrett did not say the door was closed, only that the window for making the transition stick was a finite one. His comments reflect a broader point he made about the difficulty of transferring a character’s momentum from one wrestling audience to another when the fan base overlap is not total.
