WWE main roster star moves to NXT

Mike Kanellis has moved to WWE NXT.

Kanellis did so WWE held an NXT live event on Friday in Melbourne, FL at the Melbourne Auditorium. This event saw him team up with Tony Nese to defeat Mohamed Fahim and Nick Ogarelli in a tag team match.

This marked the first time that Kanellis has worked a match since September 24th where he lost to Chad Gable in seconds at a SmackDown TV event.

Kanellis has been on a hiatus as an active in-ring performer after he asked for his WWE release back in September. Although WWE has let some stars out of their contracts such as Luke Harper, who also requested his release that was granted in late 2019, it appears that Kanellis will be sticking around.

Kanellis signed a new 5-year deal with WWE last year. He had been paired with his wife, Maria, on television but after a wacky storyline, the two were removed from television.

Thus, it appears that he will be working in NXT going forward.
