The rumors about Ronda Rousey possibly being in the women’s Royal Rumble were mentioned in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The rumors popped up shortly after Monday Night Raw when Natalya posted a graphic that included Rousey. The graphic also included women from NXT. It was taken down just seconds later, which probably means that it was posted by mistake. Click here if you want to see the graphic that was posted on Monday night.
Dave Meltzer noted that the Rousey involvement in the Rumble is a rumor that the talent has talked about but nothing is official. It’s worth nothing that Rousey has been training regularly at the Performance Center in Orlando. If she does debut at the Rumble, then it will be interesting to hear what kind of reaction she gets from the crowd in Philadelphia. It’s the same city that booed Roman Reigns winning the Rumble and the same city that booed Batista when he won.
Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir are no longer doing pro wrestling training at this time which might mean that the much talked about the match between the MMA Horsewomen against the WWE Horsewomen might have been scrapped. Also, Shayna Baszler is going to be a regular on NXT and there are no hints of her doing anything on the main roster in the immediate future. So, this might mean that Rousey will have a singles match at WrestleMania. Keep in mind that the winner of the women’s Royal Rumble is getting a Mania title shot. WWE would get a ton of press if Rousey wins the Rumble and then challenges Charlotte Flair or Asuka at Mania. I mention Asuka because they’ve been pushing her undefeated streak and she is now using the armbar as her submission move, the same armbar submission that Rousey was using in her MMA fights.
