WWE Monday Night Raw 10/10/16 results: Rollins vs. Jericho, Paul Heyman appears

Welcome to the WWE Raw pre-show, and we are live on the WWE Network. Scott Stanford, Booker T, and Jerry Lawler hype what we will see tonight, which is Chris Jericho vs. Seth Rollins. There was a video package for last week’s RAW was shown. Lita interviewed Bayley backstage at RAW. Bayley vowed to be RAW Women’s Champion soon. Sin Cara cut a backstage promo about how he is now exclusive to the cruiserweight division. Cara brought the cruiserweight division in WCW. It was announced that Tony Nese and Drew Gulak would wrestle Sin Cara and Lince Dorado in a tag team match on RAW.

Welcome to WWE Monday Night Raw. Sasha Banks walked down to the ring to open the show. Banks said that she feels like she is on top of the world right now. Banks said that she always looked up to Eddie Guerrero and wanted to steal the show last week when she beat Charlotte for the RAW Women’s Title. Banks wanted to up the stacks and said that she wants to face Charlotte inside the Hell in a Cell structure at the HIAC PPV. Charlotte then walks down to the ring. Lana and Rusev walked out as well and got inside the ring. Rusev said that no one cares that Banks main event RAW last week because he is the main event. Charlotte then got into the ring and said that they need to respect the queen. Charlotte said that if Banks wants to face her inside the HIAC, then she’s got it. Lana said that they whine like little girls. Banks then attacked Lana. Lana and Rusev got out of the ring. This led to Roman Reigns walking down to the ring, and he had a staredown with Rusev. Rusev got out of the ring and walked to the back.

-Commercial Break-

The New Day cut a promo about some of the greatest athletes from Oakland and noted that Danny Tanner and Uncle Jesse is from here.

Singles Match: Kofi Kingston vs. Cesaro

Cesaro and Kofi locked up. Kofi was sent to the floor, and Cesaro went for a dive but stopped. Kofi did the same spot, and then they had a staredown while Sheamus was on Facebook. Yes, Facebook.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Cesaro in control of Kofi as he hit a big boot. Kofi fought back but missed a springboard kick. Big E and Xavier distracted Cesaro by clothesline Sheamus, and Kofi rolled Sheamus up for the win.

Winner: Kofi.

Post-match, Cesaro and Sheamus argued. Sheamus walked to the back.

Reigns and Banks will take on Charlotte and Rusev later tonight.

-Commercial Break-

A recap video package of Goldberg’s appearance on ESPN last week was shown. A graphic hyping Paul Heyman’s appearance was shown.

Singles Match: Bayley vs. Cami Fields.

They lock up to begin the match. Bayley with a hip toss. Fields knocked her down and landed a series of right hands. Bayley hit her finisher for the win.

Winner: Bayley.

Post-match, Bayley walked up the rampway, and Dana Brooke ran out and attacked Bayley from behind.

-Commercial Break-

There was a backstage segment with Jericho on the phone and R-Truth offering him a Payday candy bar.

Tag Team Match: Tony Neese and Drew Gulak vs. Lince Dorado and Sin Cara.

Gulak and Dorado started things off. Gulak knocked him down and then locked in a back submission then tagged in Neese, who locked in a headlock. Gulak was tagged in, and Dorado hit a springboard back elbow. Cara got the hot tag and hit a backbreaker to Gulak. Cara with some forearm shots and a springboard crossbody followed by a powerbomb for 2. Neese broke it up, and Cara tagged in Dorado then took out Neese with a dive. Dorado with a spin kick to Gulak and then a shooting star press for the win.

Winners: Dorado and Cara.

-Commercial Break-

Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon walked down to the ring. Foley had his hair slicked back and in a flannel suit. McMahon said that their HIAC PPV would blow No Mercy out of the water. McMahon said Foley would tell us all about it. Foley hyped Reigns vs. Rusev in an HIAC match, and Banks vs. Charlotte in an HIAC match. Foley was very proud of that match and said that those women deserve to make history at HIAC. Foley booked Owens vs. Rollins for the WWE Universal Title inside the HIAC structure. Owens then walked down to the ring. Owens walked down and said that Foley shouldn’t be GM. Jericho said that Rollins asked for the match, so Foley is just giving people what they want. Jericho wants a private jet and Owens agreed that they deserve it and that Rollins doesn’t deserve a title match. Foley said that he doesn’t like Jericho. Jericho hyped the HIAC structure and brought up that match ended Foley’s career. Jericho said that Foley is going on the list. Foley said he was already on the list, so Jericho added him to the list again. Jericho wants McMahon to get rid of Foley. McMahon told Jericho to show Foley some respect. McMahon doesn’t care what list she makes. McMahon booked Jericho vs. Rollins for tonight and said that if Jericho wins his match tonight, then he’ll be added to the Universal Title match at the HIAC PPV.

Rollins cut a backstage promo about how he will crush Jericho tonight and get back his title at HIAC.

-Commercial Break-

Enzo Amore and Big Cass were supposed to wrestle Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas, but Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows attacked Enzo and Cass from behind. They hit their tag team finisher on Cass then left the ring.

-Commercial Break-

Axel and Dallas are still in the ring, and they issue an open challenge. Sami Zayn and Neville walked down to the ring.

Tag Team Match: Neville and Sami Zayn vs. Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel.

Zayn and Dallas started things off. Dallas landed a series of right hands then a clothesline. Axel was tagged in and landed a series of right hands. Zayn fought back and hit a suplex then a big boot to Axel. Neville was tagged in and hit the Red Arrow as Dallas watched on…

Winners: Neville and Zayn.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: R-Truth vs. Titus O’Neil.

O’Neil shoved him then they start brawling. O’Neil with a knee strike. R-Truth hit a back kick. O’Neil cut him off with a power slam and then a back breaker. Goldust distracted O’Neil and R-Truth rolled him up for the win.

Winner: R-Truth.

There was a backstage segment with Brian Kendrick and TJ Perkins. Perkins said that he would give him another title shot if he were his friend but Kendrick has changed. Perkins sucker punched him.

-Commercial Break-

Handicap Match: Braun Strowman vs. Steven & Clash Splash

Stormman tossed them around the ring and hit his finisher for the win.

Winner: Strowman.

Post-match, Strowman said that he wants tougher competition. Strowman said that if Foley doesn’t give him better competition, then it will be on Foley’s hands.

-Commercial Break-

Mixed Tag Team Match: Sasha Banks and Roman Reigns vs. Charlotte and Rusev.

Rusev and Reigns started things off. Rusev caught Reigns with a spinning heel kick. Rusev with a series of right hands. Reigns fought back with a series of clotheslines in the corner. Reigns dropped him with an uppercut and went for a Superman Punch, but Charlotte grabbed his leg. Banks knocked her down, and Reigns clotheslines Rusev out of the ring.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Rusev in control of Reigns with a headlock and then a shoulder block. Reigns fought back and got the hot tag to Banks, who hit a series of clotheslines to Charlotte. Banks with a knee strike for 2. Banks with another knee strike in the corner. Charlotte rolled her up for 2. Banks reversed and locked in the Bank Statement for the win.

Winners: Banks and Reigns.

Owens cut a backstage promo about retaining his title at the HIAC PPV against Rollins. Jericho put Tom Phillips on the list because he wouldn’t walk out of their locker room.

-Commercial Break-

Paul Heyman cuts a promo in the ring hyping Brock Lesnar being on the cover of WWE 2K17 and then showed a preview of Goldberg facing Lesnar in the game. Heyman said for the last 12 years people have been asking to see Goldberg back in the WWE. Heyman said that every time a badass debut they were greeted by Goldberg. Heyman brought up all the titles Goldberg has won and all the legends that he has beaten. Heyman said that Goldberg’s career was parallel to Lesnar. Heyman said that Goldberg is still one up on Lesnar which is why Lesnar wants a match with Goldberg anywhere, anytime. Heyman said that Golberg could live in the fantasy world (WWE 2K17) or he can step into the ring and be beaten by Lesnar. Heyman said in suplex city, Goldberg is next. Heyman walked to the back.

A new vignette is shown for Emma.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: TJ Perkins vs. Ariya Davari

They lock up, and Perkins rolled through and locked in the ankle lock, but Davari got to the bottom rope. Davari shoved him down and hit a knee strike. Davari lifted him up, but Perkins caught him with a knee strike. Perkins went for a dive, but Davari caught him and slammed him down. Perkins with a high kick but Davari landed a forearm shot then a super kick for 2. Davari went to the top rope but missed a dive. Perkins with a springboard drop kick then locked in the knee bar for the win.

Winner: Perkins.

Jericho apologized to McMAhon in a backstage segment and removed her from the list. McMahon said if Jericho wins his match tonight then he’ll know what to do at HIAC.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Chris Jericho vs. Seth Rollins (if Jericho wins then he is added to the Universal Title match at the HIAC PPV).

They lock up, and Rollins landed a series of right hands. Rollins followed with an over castle for 2. Rollins dumped him to the floor and set him into the barricade then followed up with a double ax off the apron. Owens walked out to the stage and Jericho followed up on the distraction and hit a suplex.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Jericho in control of Rollins. Jericho kicked him in the gut. Jericho worked over the ribs of Jericho. Rollins caught him with a side kick to the head. Rollins with a series of forearm shots then the sling blade for 2. Rollins with a back elbow but Jericho cut him off with a knee strike. Jericho put him on the top rope but Rollins knocked him down. Rollins went for a dive but Jericho dropkicked him. Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho but Rollins got the bottom rope. Owens distracted him and Jericho knocked Rollins down. Rollins fought back and sent Jericho to the floor. Rollins took out Owens with an outside dive. Back in the ring, Rollins hit a springboard knee for 2. Rollins went for a frog splash but Jericho put his knees up. Jericho went to the top rope but Rollins kicked him in the head. Jericho pushed him down and went for a dive but Rollins kicked him and rolled him up for the win.

Winner: Rollins.

Post-match, Owens attacked Rollins from behind. Rollins fought back and was about to go for the Pedigree but Jericho attacked Rollins from behind. Rollins fought back and hit the Pedigree on Jericho while Owens walked up the ramp. Owens and Rollins had a staredown to close the show.
