Welcome to the WWE Raw pre-show, and we are live on the WWE Network. Scott Stanford, Booker T, Lita, and Jerry Lawler hype what we will see tonight, which is the return of Goldberg. A video package for the Charlotte – Sasha Banks feud is shown. Lawler thought that Goldberg thinking about fighting Lesnar was a mistake. There was a backstage segment with The Shining Stars and Titus O’Neil challenging Mark Henry, R-Truth, and Goldust to a match tonight.
Welcome to WWE Monday Night Raw, Michael Cole hypes the return of Goldberg. Lita will conduct exclusive interviews with Banks and Charlotte tonight. Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho walked down to the ring to open the show. Owens said that Mick Foley has a personal vendetta against him and Owens believes that is the reason he booked him against Seth Rollins at the HIAC PPV event. Owens vowed to put Rollins through hell and retain his WWE Universal Title. Jericho thinks that he should have been added to that match at the HIAC PPV. Jericho brought up beating Rey Mysterio, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, and The Rock. Jericho put the referee that was in his match with Rollins on the list. Owens vowed to retire Rollins at HIAC. This led to Rollins walking out to the stage and mocking Jericho for his scarf and trunks. Jericho threatens to put him on the list. Rollins said that Owens isn’t a good friend as he has to watch Jericho get Pedigreed twice in the last two weeks. Owens said Rollins doesn’t have any friends because he is not a good person. Jericho said that he could beat Rollins anytime and anyplace. Rollins agreed to a fight but wanted to know where Owens would go. Rollins said that Owens could go to the back or watch at ringside as a cheerleader. Owens wanted to stay while Jericho wanted him to go. Jericho thinks it is best he leaves due to the last two weeks. Owens agreed to go to the back, and we have a match.
Singles Match: Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho.
Jericho landed a series of right hands and then a back suplex to start the match off. Jericho hit a backbreaker and then tossed him to the floor then sent him into the barricade. Back in the ring, Jericho went to the top rope but Rollins kicked him in the gut and went for the Pedigree, but Jericho blocked and rolled him up for 2. Rollins with a series of strikes then an overcastle off the middle rope for 2. Rollins went for a suplex, but Jericho blocked it and went for the Walls of Jericho, but Rollins rolled him up for 2. Rollins with a kick and went for the Pedigree but Jericho blocked it and hit a springboard drop kick sending Rollins to the floor.
We’re back with Jericho missing a move and landing on the ropes. Jericho battled back and hit a drop kick off the middle rope for 2. Jericho missed a drop kick, and Rollins kneed him in the face. Rollins tripped him and hit a neck breaker for 2. Jericho went for the Pedigree, but Rollins blocked with a knee strike and hit a sitdown powerbomb for 2. Rollins went to the top rope but Owens walked down to the ring, and Rollins took out Jericho with an outside dive. Back in the ring, Rollins hit him with a springboard knee and went for the Pedigree, but Jericho reversed and locked in the Walls of Jericho. Rollins got to the bottom rope to break it up. Rollins ducked a punch but ate a head kick. Jericho went for the Code Breaker, but Rollins blocked and hit the Pedigree for the win.
A video package to hype the return of Goldberg was shown.
Charlotte does a backstage sit down interview with Lita. Charlotte said that the reason she is the first female to wrestle in an HIAC match is because she is a Flair. Charlotte said that there is a reason she is a two-time Women’s Champion and a win’s a win in regards to beating Banks at less than a 100%. Charlotte said that when the lights are everyone knows that she is the woman to beat. Charlotte that she never needed anyone to cheer her on and that the wrestling business is in her blood. Charlotte ended the interview by saying that she is the woman to beat.
R-Truth, Goldust, and Mark Henry beat Titus O’Neil and The Shining Stars
Singles Match: Big E vs. Sheamus
They lock up, and Big E hit a shoulder block. Big E sent him to the floor and hit a body splash on the apron. Sheamus caught him and hit a rolling senton to send us to break.
We’re back with Sheamus getting distracted by Cesaro and Big E rolled him up for the win.
Winner: Big E.
Singles Match: Neville vs. Bo Dallas.
They lock up, and Dallas hit a series of strikes then worked over the right arm of Neville. Neville fought back with kicks then reversed a back suplex and hit a head kick. Neville sent him to the floor and hit an outside dive taking out Dallas. Neville with a big kick once back into the ring but Dallas knocked him down on the apron. Dallas hit his finisher for the win.
Post-match, Dallas attacked Curtis Axel, who was at ringside.
Singles Match: Bayley vs. Dana Brooke.
Brooke runs from her early in the match. Bayley cuts her off and sent her head first into the turnbuckle several times. Brooke landed a big right hand then mocked her and sent her into the corner hard. Brooke locked in a headlock, but Bayley fought out of it. Bayley with a big clothesline and landed some more right hands. Brooke rolled to the floor, and Bayley hit a baseball slide. Back in the ring, Brooke knocked her off the top and pinned her for the win.
Paul Heyman appeared via satellite and said that this whole situation had been blown out of control. Heyman said that the challenge was rhetorical and say that Goldberg is going to say yes to the challenge. Heyman said that Lesnar doesn’t even think about Goldberg anymore and he is not worth the sweat of off Lesnar’s ass. Heyman said that Goldberg needs to say no to Lesnar’s challenge and if he says yes then it will piss Lesnar off. Lesnar is still pissed off that he lost to Goldberg at WrestleMania 20. Heyman begged Goldberg to say no or he will be embarrassed by Lesnar.
Handicap Match: Braun Strowman vs. three jobbers.
Strowman tossed them around and hit his finisher for the win.
Post-match, Strowman said that he wants real competition and if he doesn’t get it now he’ll go to the back and find it. Sami Zayn marched down to the ring. They had a face-off then Strowman shoved him and walked out of the ring.
Rusev and Lana walked down to the ring. Rusev tried to cut a promo, but the fans kept cutting him off. Rusev is tired of hearing about Roman Reigns’ family and said that he is glad to hear Reigns has a family. Rusev introduced his family including his mother, Slavka. Rusev said that she is a two-time rowing champion. Lana said that she loves momma Rusev. Rusev told the fans not to boo his mother. Rusev introduced poppa Rusev, and the fans booed him. Reigns walked down to the ring and said that he when he is done with Rusev, he will be calling 911. This led to Rusev kicking him in the gut and attacking him. Rusev locked in the Accolade on Reigns on the steel steps.
Brian Kendrick, Tony Nese, and Drew Gulak was shown talking with TJ Perkins backstage. Kendrick said the WWE is the place where there are no friends. Perkins said that Kendrick offered them a chance at the Cruiserweight Title if they help him tonight. Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann walked up and said that they had his back.
Banks does a sitdown interview with Lita. Bank said that she is ready and this match is huge as they began together in NXT and made it all the way up to the main roster. Banks said that they have come along way and she will prove that she is the best at HIAC. Banks said that she will be in her hometown at HIAC and will make history at the event. Banks said that her injury at SummerSlam is behind her and she is 100%. Banks said that she is not scared of the HIAC match because fear is not an option for her.
Six-Man Tag Team Match: Tony Nese, Drew Gulak and Brian Kendrick vs. TJ Perkins, Rich Swann, and Cedric Alexander.
Swann and Gulak start things off. Gulak took him down and locked in a face front lock. Alexander and Nese were tagged in. Alexander hit a big drop kick then a power slam and Perkins was tagged in and hit a springboard splash. Perkins went for a DDT, but Nese caught him and hit a power slam for 2. Kendrick was tagged in, but Perkins tripped him and went for his finisher, but Kendrick got out of it and rolled to the floor.
We’re back with Kendrick in control of Alexander. Kendrick knocked Perkins down, and Alexander knocked Kendrick down. Swann and Nese got the hot tags. Swann with a series of clotheslines then a hurricanronna for 2. Gulak broke up the pin attempt. Alexander clotheslines Kendrick out of the ring. Perkins took out Gulak with a drop kick. Nese caught Swann with a knee strike and then hit a 450 splash. Kendrick tagged himself in and locked in the captain’s hook submission for the win.
Winners: Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, and Brian Kendrick
Michael Cole is in the ring and recaps the build up for Goldberg’s WWE return. Cole introduces Goldberg, who walks through the backstage area to the ring. The fans chanted Goldberg during his entire entrance. Goldberg said that it’s been a long time and you didn’t forget while the fans chant holy s*it. Goldberg said that you never say never and he thought he would ever be in this ring again. Goldberg thanked the fans for a humble return. He said it makes it so special because his wife and son are here to see me live for the first time. Goldberg said that back in January he got a call from 2K to promote WWE 2K17. Goldberg said that he misses a lot of this pro wrestling business and other than kicking ass, he misses being a superhero. Goldberg said he could go to Germany or Canada and see in kids eyes that he was Goldberg. Goldberg said in between that time he caused some drama in WWE and it made him think. Goldberg said that he thought long and hard and he thinks that he leaves it alone and keeps it in the video game. Goldberg said but then Brock Lesnar challenged him to a fight but didn’t have the balls to do it himself and had his fat little stooge do it for him. Goldberg said that got him thinking and that maybe he has one more ass kicking left in him and one more spear left in him. Goldberg added that maybe he has one more jack hammer left in him. Goldberg said that Lesnar is next and last. Goldberg left the ring and celebrated in the ring to close the show.
