WWE Monday Night RAW 5/8/17 results: Bray Wyatt vs. Dean Ambrose, Samoa Joe vs. Seth Rollins

Welcome to WWE Monday Night RAW. There was no pyro or opening video, but rather we see Dean Ambrose on the phone in the backstage arena. He was on the phone with Kurt Angle. Ambrose hung up and asked a stagehand to play his music and then he headed to the ring. He cut a promo about how Angle was not in attendance and made him the acting general manager of the night. This led to The Miz walking out to the ring and stated that he would be the co-general manager for the night after saying that he spoke with Stephanie McMahon. He said that if Ambrose ran RAW by himself then it would be the last episode of RAW. Ambrose said that McMahon gets him every time. He said that at Extreme Rules he would put a beatdown on him. Ambrose offered Miz a handshake but Miz didn’t accept it. This led to Braun Strowman walking out and said that he doesn’t care who is in charge and that he took out The Big Dog at Payback. He said that as long as Roman Reigns can walk, he is not done with Reigns. He said that when he is healed then he will end Reigns and once he’s done with him he wants Brock Lesnar. Kalisto walked out and demanded another match with Strowman. He reminded Strowman that he beat him in their dumpster match. He said that no one treats him like garbage. Strowman said that he crushed him like a beer can and that he could beat Kalisto with one arm. Ambrose booked the match for later in the show. Strowman said that he is injured but Ambrose didn’t care. Miz congratulated Ambrose on ending Kalisto’s career. Ambrose announced Miz vs. Finn Balor, which takes place next.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Finn Balor vs. The Miz.

They lock up and Balor hit a drop kick for 2. Balor sent him to the floor and hit a drop kick sending him into the barricade. Back in the ring, Balor went for his finisher on the top rope but Maryse pulled Miz out of the ring.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Miz in control of Balor. Miz hit a kick then a DDT for 2. Balor fired back with a series of right hands but Miz caught him with a knee strike to the gut. Miz hit a big boot and Balor followed up with an up kick. Balor sent him to the floor, hit a baseball slide and followed up with an up kick. Back in the ring, Miz begged him then Miz pushed Balor into the referee. Miz got the microphone and said that Balor is disqualified. The bell rang. This led to Ambrose coming out and restarted the match and banned Maryse from ringside. Balor attacked him from behind and hits a Coup de Grace for the win.

Winner: Balor.

Alexa Bliss was shown backstage when Nia Jax walked in. Jax noted how Bliss dissed everyone but her last week on RAW. Jax wants a title match after Bliss is done with Bayley. Bliss promised that she would talk to Angle about it. Jax stated that they are now best friends.

-Commercial Break-

Non-Title Match: RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss vs. Mickie James

They lock up and James caught with two drop kicks for 2. James sent Bliss to the floor and hit a baseball slide.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Bliss in control of James. Bliss worked over the left arm of James. Moments later, James fought back and knocked her down. James went to the top rope but Bliss knocked James out with a right hand in the corner after Jax grabbed James’ leg for the pin.

Winner: Bliss

Post-match, Bayley chased Bliss to the back while Nia attacked James.

There was a backstage segment with The Miz and Ambrose. Miz was upset that Ambrose booked the entire show. Miz had a Miz TV segment planned with a member of One Direction, but Ambrose canceled it. Miz booked Ambrose in a match against Bray Wyatt

-Commercial Break-

A tale of the tape was shown for Braun Strowman vs. Kalisto.

Samoa Joe was interviewed backstage. Seth Rollins jumped Joe, and they brawled until WWE officials separated them.

-Commercial Break-

Strowman walked down to the ring with his left arm in a sling for his match with Kalisto. Strowman grabbed the microphone and said that he is injured and won't compete tonight. Strowman then hit Kalisto with a big boot, and the match started. This led to Roman Reigns, who had his upper body taped up, coming down to the ring and had a staredown with Strowman. Reigns hit several superman punches to knock Strowman down. Strowman recovered and kicked Reigns in the bad shoulder. Reigns used a steel chair on Strowman's bad arm. Strowman fled through the crowd to end the segment.

It was announced that Samoa Joe vs. Seth Rollins would take place later in the show.

There was a backstage segment with Goldust hyping up R-Truth and how they need to go shock the world.

-Commercial Break-

#1 Contenders Tag Team Turmoil Match: Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Golden Truth vs. Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Heath Slater & Rhyno vs. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson.

Sheamus and Big Cass started things off. Big Cass hit a series of right hands then a big splash in the corner followed by a powerslam and the elbow drop. Amore was tagged in hit a clothesline to Cesaro. Amore hit a crossbody to Sheamus off the top rope for 2. Sheamus hit a back breaker to Amore.

We’re back with Sheamus and Cesaro in control of Amore. Moments later, Amore caught Cesaro with a kick. Sheamus sent Big Cass into the ring post. Cesaro hit an uppercut and locked in the Sharpshooter for the elimination.

Heath Slater & Rhyno are next. All four Superstars started brawling. Cesaro tossed Rhyno into the steel steps and Slater into the barricade. Back in the ring, Cesaro beat him down until Slater caught him with a kick. Sheamus was tagged in and hit a clothesline for 2. Sheamus followed it up with a Brogue Kick for the elimination.

-Commercial Break-

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson are next. Things broke down in the ring. Gallows took out Sheamus, Cesaro hit an uppercut to Gallows and Anderson hit a spinebuster to Cesaro.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Sheamus hitting Gallows with the Brogue Kick for the elimination. Golden Truth are the final team. All four Superstars start brawling. Goldust clotheslines Cesaro to the floor. Goldust hit a neck breaker with R-Truth for 2. Sheamus tossed Goldust to the floor and tagged in Cesaro, who attacked the left knee of Goldust. R-Truth got the hot tag and hit the leg scissors to Cesaro for 2. Cesaro rolled up R-Truth for the win.

Winners: Sheamus & Cesaro.

Post-match, Cesaro, and Sheamus attacked R-Truth and Goldust until The Hardy Boyz ran down to make the save.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Seth Rollins vs. Samoa Joe
They start brawling to begin the match. Rollins hit the sling blade for 2. Joe attacked the left knee of Rollins and sent him to the floor.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Joe in control of Rollins. He continued to work over the left knee of Rollins. Rollins fought back and hit an outside dive. Back in the ring, Joe connected with a powerslam. Rollins blocked a suplex and hit the Falcon Arrow for 2. Joe picked him up as Rollins ripped off the turnbuckle cover. Rollins hit a super kick for 2. Joe sent him into the exposed turnbuckle and got DQ'd.

Winner: Rollins.

Post-match, Joe continued the attack on Rollins until referees stopped him.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: TJP vs. Jack Gallagher

TJP attacked him right out of the gate then sent him to the floor and into the ring steps. TJP hit a springboard dive for 2. Gallagher fought back and went for a roll up but TJP countered and rolled him up by using the tights.
Winner: TJP

Post-match, TJP kept attacking Gallagher until Aries, who was wearing a leg brace, ran down to make the save.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Sasha Banks vs. Alicia Fox

Fox slaps her and knocks her down., Fox locked in a headlock but Banks fought out of it. Banks hit a double knee drop for the win.

Winner: Sasha Banks

-Commercial Break-

It was announced that Ambrose would face Miz for the Intercontinental Title on next week’s show.

Singles Match: Bray Wyatt vs. Dean Ambrose

They lock up to begin the match. Ambrose knocked him down to the floor and hit an outside dive. Back in the ring, Ambrose went to the top rope and missed a dive. Ambrose went for Dirty Deeds but it was blocked and Wyatt hit a suplex off the apron to the floor and we cut to break.
-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Wyatt in control of Ambrose as he hit a DDT then a chin lock. Ambrose fought out of it but Wyatt hit a clothesline. Wyatt went to the top rope but missed a back splash. Ambrose hit a forearm strike then a big boot. Ambrose went to the top rope but Wyatt ducked out of the ring.

Ambrose hit an elbow drop off the top rope. Miz and Maryse, who were on commentary, walked down to the ring. Ambrose rolled him up for 2. Wyatt hit a powerslam for 2. Wyatt went for a suplex off the top rope but Ambrose blocked and pushed him off the top rope. Miz grabbed the Intercontinental Title and Ambrose took him out with a dive. Ambrose sent Wyatt into the barricade. The Miz hit Ambrose with the Intercontinental Title then Wyatt hit Sister Abigail for the win.

Winner: Wyatt.

Post-match, Miz attacked Ambrose. Miz vowed to beat Ambrose next week to become the new Intercontinental Champion. to close the show. Thanks for watching along and we will see you next time.
