WWE Monday Night Raw 7/17/17 results: Samoa Joe vs. Roman Reigns, Kurt Angle reveals his secret

Welcome to WWE Monday Night Raw. There is a recap video of last week’s episode of Raw. Dean Ambrose walks down to the ring with a steel chair to open the show. He introduced everyone to his good friend steely stan (steel chair). He called out The Miz and said that he would stay out here all night if Miz doesn’t. Seth Rollins walks out instead and asked what he was doing. Rollins brought up how he saved him last week but then Ambrose got into his business. Rollins told him to get a better plan. Ambrose said that is Rollins’ thing and not his. Ambrose said that he was just in the mood to hit Miz with a chair last week. Rollins asked if Ambrose would be against or with him when he takes on The Miz. Ambrose said that they are not brothers because his brothers were in The Shield but Rollins ruined that. Rollins said that was three years ago and that he is sorry. Rollins asked him how long it would take for him to get it over that moment. Ambrose said that Rollins is just talking. Rollins said that he would have his action speak for him then. Rollins wanted Ambrose to hit him in the back with a chair and Ambrose teased it but didn’t and threw the chair out of the ring. The Miz, Curtis Axel, and Bo Dallas come out to the stage. Miz said that if you burn a bridge in this business then it’s a major no, no. Miz pointed out that he beat Ambrose twice and that he can’t win on his own. Dallas and Axel attempted an attack but Ambrose and Rollins fought them off. The numbers game caught up to Ambrose and Rollins.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley

They started brawling and Bayley knocked her down. This led to Nia Jax walking out to the ring and we cut to break.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Jax at ringside while Bliss has Bayley in a submission hold. Moments later, Bayley fought back with a series of strikes then tripped her. Bayley hit an elbow strike off the middle rope then a back suplex. Bayley went to the top rope and hit an elbow drop. Bliss rolled to the floor and hide behind Jax. Bliss connected with a clothesline. Sasha Banks ran down and attacked Jax. Bayley hit her finisher for the win.

Winner: Bayley.

We see Corey Graves leave the announce table and go backstage. A recap video of the ESPYS was shown.

-Commercial Break-

We see Angle talking with Graves backstage. Angle is having second thoughts about making his announcement. Graves told him that the news will get out due to social media and that Angle just needs to tell everyone the truth.

Titus O’Neil told Akira Tozawa that the next time Neville defends the Cruiserweight Title, then he will feel the power. Arya Davari walked in and challenged Tozawa to a match tonight.

Tag Team Match: Mustafa Ali & Jack Gallagher vs. Drew Gulak & Brian Kendrick

Gulak and Gallagher started things off. Gallagher hit a monkey toss then tossed hi to the floor, but Kendrick got the blind tag. Gallagher hit him with a headbutt then tagged in Ali, who hit his finisher off the top rope for the win.

Winners: Mustafa Ali & Jack Gallagher

-Commercial Break-

Enzo Amore cuts a promo in the ring about how you are going to win some and loses some, but you have to fight for what you believe in. He said that he believed in it more that Big Cass did. He brought up how Cass would throw him at their opponents because he wanted to win. He said that just because Cass is seven feet tall didn’t help them win championships. He said that Big Cass couldn’t throw him out of his life. He mocked Cass for not being able to fight a man of his own size (The Big Show) last week. Big Cass walked out to the ring, and Amore got into the crowd. He sat at ringside for Cass’ match. This led to The Big Show walking out, and they started brawling. Cass laid him out and beat him down in the ring.

Roman Reigns cut a backstage promo vowing to beat Samoa Joe tonight.

-Commercial Break-

We see Ambrose and Rollins talking backstage. Angle booked Rollins & Ambrose against The Miz, Axel, and Dallas for next week’s Raw.

Singles Match: Finn Balor vs. Elias Samson

They lock up, and Samson hit him with a shoulder block. Samson worked over Balor’s neck and put him in a full nelson, but Balor fought out of it. Balor caught him with a kick. Balor with a series of kicks and strikes in the corner. Samson hit a powerbomb for 2. Samson hit a powerslam for 2. Samson went to the corner, but Balor knocked him off and hit a baseball slide. Samson hit him with a guitar causing the DQ. Balor was busted open on the side of his head.

Winner: Balor via DQ.

As Balor was recovering and about to walk to the backstage area, Bray Wyatt appeared on the big screen and said that real people have feelings. He noted that he needs to satisfy his soul and that he is the worst nightmare that Balor will ever have.

-Commercial Break-

We see Angle on the phone saying that he is ready. Banks and Bayley walked in wanting a Raw Women’s Title match. Angle booked a match between each other next week, and the winner will face Bliss at SummerSlam.

The Revival was interviewed backstage. They vowed to beat The Hardy Boyz tonight because the former Raw Tag Team Champions didn’t know how they were when they were called up to the main roster.

Singles Match: Ariya Davari vs. Akira Tozawa

They lock up, and Tozawa landed a series of strikes. Tozawa hit a back suplex that got the crowd behind him. Tozawa missed a dive off the top rope. Davari landed a running knee strike to Tozawa then targeted the left shoulder. The referee stopped the match after O’Neil asked him to stop the match.

Winner: Davari.

-Commercial Break-

Angle walked out to the ring for his big announcement. Angle apologized to the fans for being a distraction. He said that one of his actions from his past has a consequence and that has changed his life. He said that he was scared of change because he might lose his family but that is not the case. He said that WWE is supportive and his family as well. He said that when he was in college, he dated a lady and he recently found out that she gave nine months after their last date. The baby was a boy and he was adopted. He praised the boy for being a great athlete and excelled in college. The boy would go onto to be a WWE Superstar. He said that they always settle things in the ring and brought out Jason Jordan, who is now on the Raw roster. Jordan and Angle hugged it out in the ring to end the segment.

-Commercial Break-

Tag Team Match: The Revival vs. The Hardy Boyz

The two team started brawling to begin the match. Dawson and Matt started things off. Matt with a series of shoulder blocks then they exchanged shots. Jeff was tagged in and hit a clothesline then tagged in Matt. Dash was tagged in and worked over Matt in the corner along with Dawson. The Hardy Boyz hit a double hip toss to Dash and Dawson to send us to break.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with The Revival in control of Matt. Moments later, Jeff got the hot tag and hit a series of strikes to Dash. Jeff hit a splash off the top rope for 2. Dawson got the hot tag but Jeff rolled him up for 2. Jeff hit the Twist of Fate for 2 as Dash broke it up. Matt took out Dash. Jeff hit a drop kick in the corner then went to the top rope but Dash knocked him down. Dawson pinned Jeff for the win.

Winners: The Revival.

Samoa Joe cut a backstage on facing Reigns tonight. He said that he would run through him and vowed to beat him tonight then go onto face Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.

-Commercial Break-

O’Neil was talking with Tozawa backstage and explained why he stopped the match earlier. Tozawa demanded a match with Davari on tomorrow night’s 205 Live.

#1 Contender’s Match: Samoa Joe vs. Roman Reigns

They started brawling then Reigns got the upper hand, and Joe retreated to the floor.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Joe in control of Reigns by landing a series of strikes. Joe caught him with a back elbow for 2. Reigns went for a clothesline but Joe caught him. Reigns with elbow strikes then a clothesline for 2. Reigns with a big boot that knocked the big man down. Reigns went for the drive bye but Joe caught him a clothesline. Reigns fired back with one of his own.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Reigns hitting a samoan drop for 2. Joe caught him with a big boot then a back splash for 2. Reigns went for a suplex but Joe blocked. Reigns connected with the superman punch instead for 2. This led to Braun Strowman walking out to the ring but Reigns landed a right hand then a big boot to Strowman. Strowman sent Reigns into the ring. Joe and Strowman started brawling. Strowman tossed him aside and started attacking Reigns. Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch but Reigns hit Joe with a superman punch. Strowman caught Reigns and hit a spine buster then a powerslam to Joe. Strowman with a powerslam to Reigns. Security ran down to the ring to stop Strowman, who hit another powerslam to Reigns. Strowman walked to the back as Reigns and Joe lay in the ring to close the show.
