WWE Monday Night Raw (8/17/20) viewership slightly down for SummerSlam go-home show

This week’s edition of Monday Night Raw saw a decrease from last Monday’s episode as it went up against the Democratic National Convention on multiple stations.

According to Showbuzz Daily, the episode drew an average of 1.643 million viewers on the USA Network. This is slightly down from the 1.722 million viewers a week ago.

WWE was trying to sell the final build for Sunday’s SummerSlam pay-per-view during this broadcast as it served as the go-home show for the red brand.  This show also featured week 3 of Raw Underground in the third hour but was down just slightly from last week.

The 18-49 demos saw hour one had 0.52 then 0.49 in hour two, and 0.44 in hour three. Here is the hourly viewership breakdown:

Hour 1 (8 pm): 1.730 million – last week: 1.811
Hour 2 (9 pm): 1.697 million – last week: 1.754
Hour 3 (10 pm): 1.502 million – last week: 1.601

Some of the matches featured on the card included Asuka & Shayna Baszler vs Bayley & Sasha Banks, MVP, Shelton Benjamin & Lashley vs. Mustafa Ali, Ricochet & Apollo Crews, and Montez Ford vs. Andrade.

The main event segment featured an appearance by WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels. This is where Randy Orton, who challenges Drew McIntyre for the WWE Title at SummerSlam, took out the legendary wrestler with an RKO and punt kick.
