WWE Monday Night Raw 8/1/16 results: Brock Lesnar appears, Zayn vs. Rollins

Welcome to the WWE Raw Pre-Show, and we are live on the WWE Network. Scott Stanford, Lita and Jerry Lawler hype what we will see tonight, which is Brock Lesnar’s appearance and The New Day wrestling Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows. Also, Sasha Banks will address the WWE Universe following her title win last Monday on RAW.

There is a recap video of last week’s episode of Raw. We got the intro video, and Sasha Banks walks down to the ring to open the show. Banks cut a promo about RAW popping off with the boss and then brought up her match with Bayley at NXT Takeover. She said that they owned that show and that the reign is just getting started as she will defend the Women’s Title against Charlotte at SummerSlam. Charlotte walks down to the ring by herself. Banks said that she looks a little different without gold. Charlotte said that she doesn’t need Ric Flair or Dana Brooke to beat Banks. Charlotte vowed to beat Banks at SummerSlam by herself. Charlotte said that she was the very best for over three hundred days and thinks Banks capitalized on one mistake. Charlotte told Banks that she is just a one night stand. Banks responded by saying that Charlotte wouldn’t be standing here if it wasn’t for a one night stand. Chris Jericho came out and said quiet. Jericho told Banks to shut up and was not happy with the way Banks was talking to Charlotte. Jericho said that Charlotte has done more than her father and knew that she will beat Banks at SummerSlam. Jericho asked why Banks is the boss. Enzo Amore then walked out to the ring. He introduced himself and kissed Banks’ hand. Amore said that he likes to do business by himself sometimes and pointed out that he is a G, and she is a boss, and he has that hot sauce. They asked each other how they were doing. Charlotte cut them off and told Banks to go for it then mocked them. Amore called Jericho and Charlotte haters and also called Jericho old. Jericho called Amore a hip hop hobbit. Amore mocked Jericho for looking like Bon Jovi and his scarf. Mick Foley walked out to the stage and said that he cares how the fans are doing. Foley pointed out that he is the boss and thought Amore and he were brothers then plugged his reality show on the WWE Network. Foley booked a mixed tag team match that will see Jericho and Charlotte vs. Amore and Banks tonight.

-Commercial Break-

Mixed Tag Team Match: Chris Jericho and Charlotte vs. Enzo Amore and Sasha Banks with Kevin Owens on commentary.

Jericho and Amore started things off. Jericho with a headlock and then a shoulder block. Amore with a drop kick and some hip take overs. Charlotte and Banks were tagged in. Banks with some trips and a quick pin attempt. Banks and Amore hit an outside dive on both Charlotte and Jericho.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Banks hitting a knee strike to Charlotte and went for the Bank Statement, but Dana Brooke ran out and distracted Banks. Charlotte it the Natural Selection for the win.

Winners: Chris Jericho and Charlotte

Post-match, Jericho hit the Codebreaker to Amore. Big Cass walked out, and Jericho walked to the back.

Singles Match: Braun Strowman vs. Evan Anderholm

Strowman grabbed and tossed him around the ring then hit a shoulder block. Strowman hit a reverse chokeslam for the win.

Winner: Braun Strowman

Stephanie and Mick were talking backstage. She praised Foley for booking that mixed tag team match. Stephanie thinks Shane’s run as SmackDown live commissioner will be short lived. Mark Henry said that he is excited for the new era in WWE. Henry wants to re-open the Hall of Pain. Stephanie said that they brought him back to be a mentor to the younger stars. Henry told her that she was wrong because he has been a WWE Champion. Henry said that he wants another run. Foley booked Henry vs. Rusev tonight.

-Commercial Break-

Tag Team Match: Goldust and R-Truth vs. The Shining Stars.

Goldust and Primo started things off. Goldust with an uppercut then cut off Epico. Primo attacked Goldust from behind. Primo with a knee strike and Epico with a splash. Goldust with a big boot to Primo R-Truth was playing Pokemon Go during the match. Epico rolled up Goldust for the win.

Winners: The Shining Stars

Finn Balor walks down to the ring for an interview with Michael Cole. Balor said that the last few weeks have been unbelievable, but he knew when he came to RAW he had to make an impact. This led to Seth Rollins walking out. Rollins brought up Balor being NXT Champion but pointed out that he was the first NXT Champion. Rollins pointed out Balor was drafted by RAW, but he was drafted overall #1 in the draft by RAW. Rollins said that Balor beat Roman Reigns in his first main roster match, but he beat Reigns after coming back from ACL surgery. Rollins compared Balor to remake movies. Balor vowed to become the first WWE Universal Champion. Rollins said that NXT wouldn’t be where it is now without Balor. Balor mocked Rollins for his laugh. Balor said that everywhere he has been there’s been a guy like Rollins and every time he has beaten that guy and been champion. Rollins said that Balor has never faced someone like him. Rollins said that he would make an example out of Sami Zayn tonight. Balor said that he earned his opportunity at SummerSlam while Rollins had his handed to him. Rollins vowed to become WWE Universal Champion, and Balor vowed to beat his ass. Rollins tried to attack Balor, but Balor blocked and hit a series of kicks.

-Commercial Break-

United States Title Match: Rusev © vs. Mark Henry.

Henry hit a series of power slam and then a headbutt. Rusev rolled to the floor to recover and then put the boots to him.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Rusev trying to apply the Accolade, but Henry fought out. Rusev cut him off with a spinning heel kick. Rusev with a superkick and then the Accolade.

Winner: Rusev ©.

Post-match, Rusev mocked Henry as an athlete at the Olympics and claims the only reason that America wins at the games is because it’s rigged. Roman Reigns walks down to the ring. They have a staredown and Reigns hit him with a Superman Punch. Rusev rolled out of the ring. Reigns hit another one, and Rusev ran to the back.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Darren Young vs. Titus O’Neil:

Young tried to get some offense going, but O’Neil continued to cut him off. O’Neil hit a power slam for 2. Young with an up kick and then went for the Gut Check, but O’Neil blocked and rolled him up using the tights for the win.

Winner: O’Neil.

Sheamus walked up to McMahon and Foley backstage. Sheamus asked why Henry got a title match, and he didn’t. Cesaro walked in, and Foley booked a match between them.

-Commercial Break-

O’Neil was screaming at Backlund backstage, and he threatened to knock him out. Young attacked O’Neil from behind.

Singles Match: Nia Jax vs. Ariel Monroe

Jax bet her quickly with a power slam for the win.

Winner: Jax.

-Commercial Break-

The New Day cut a promo about deciding who would be facing Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows tonight. It will be Kingston and Big E.

Tag Team Match: New Day and Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.

Anderson and Big E started things off. Anderson cut him off and put the boots to him. Big E hit a big slam then things broke down in the ring. The match was called off. Woods tried to make the save, but Gallows took him out. They hit their finisher on Big E.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Cesaro vs. Sheamus.

Sheamus hit a series of clotheslines then Cesaro sent him to the floor and hit a dive. Back in the ring, Sheamus went to the top rope and hit a shoulder tackle for 2. Cesaro fought back with some right hands then a headbutt. Cesaro with a springboard crossbody. Sheamus rolled him up for 2, but Cesaro hit the Neutralizer for the win.

Winner: Cesaro.

-Commercial Break-

Cesaro and Sheamus were separated by security. Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal walked out. Slater cut a promo about how no one can break 2MB, and they will light RAW on fire. Foley walked out and reminded them that they are not even on the RAW. Foley booked Slater vs. Mahal. Foley said that the RAW brand is stacked and that they would have to wrestle each other for the spot. Mahal hit a big boot and Slater won the quick match. Mahal is now on the RAW brand.

Jericho cut a promo backstage about Big Cass saving his pal Enzo Amore. Jericho said that he has someone who will be watching his back. Kevin Owens walked up and said that he would be watching Jericho’s back.

-Commercial Break-

Singles Match: Sami Zayn vs. Seth Rollins.

They start brawling to begin the match. Zayn hit a moonsault off the barricade. Back in the ring, Zayn went to the top rope, but Rollins knocked him off and hit a forearm shot sending him to the floor.

-Commercial Break-

We’re back with Rollins going for a superkick, but Zayn reversed with a clothesline. Zayn with a power slam for 2. Rollins with a series of elbows but Zayn cut him off with the Blue Thunder Bomb for 2. Rollins with a head kick then went for the Pedigree but it was blocked, and Zan hit a springboard DDT. Zayn missed a big boot but did hit an outside dive. Back in the ring, Zayn missed a big boot and Rollins hit the Pedigree for the win.

Winner: Rollins.

-Commercial Break-

Paul Heyman is in the ring and introduces himself. Heyman hyped Brock Lesnar’s appearance and said that he knows everyone is waiting for him. Heyman then brought out Lesnar. Heyman used the word wrestling, and he stated that he could say anything he wants to. Heyman said Lesnar doesn’t need to step up to the new era or get along with Foley, Vince or Stephanie. Heyman hyped up Orton and wonders why Orton wants to fight Lesnar. Heyman said maybe the voices in his head is telling him to do this. Heyman said that Lesnar would beat Orton’s ass at SummerSlam and would send him to suplex city. Heyman begged Orton not to fight Lesnar. Heyman said that Orton might have a chance of survival and be able to wrestle by the end of the year. Heyman doesn’t think Orton is man enough to hit an RKO. Randy Orton came out of nowhere and hit an RKO to Lesnar. Orton ran through the crowd as Lesnar stumbled to his feet. Orton and Lesnar have a staredown to end the show.
