The show started with highlights from last week to remind fans what went down in the segments involving Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, and Paul Heyman.

Opening segment

Kurt Angle and Constable Baron Corbin kicked off the first segment. Angle mentioned that Ronda Rousey would be having her first Raw match tonight and he didn’t have to beg her and she didn’t whine or complain like Brock Lesnar. Angle said that Rousey is a champion in his book, win or lose. He wishes he could say the same about Lesnar because Lesnar has no class for what he has done to the WWE Universe, the Universal Championship and to him. Paul Heyman will be interviewed by Renee Young later tonight. Roman Reigns’ music played and he walked out. Reigns said that he respects Angle but he should have known better than to kick The Big Dog out of the building last week. Reigns criticized Corbin for not doing anything when Lesnar attacked Angle. Angle said that nobody liked what Lesnar did last week and that includes from the top down. Reigns said that he hopes that Lesnar is not going to be suspended again. Angle said that he made sure that the Lesnar vs. Reigns match will still take place at SummerSlam and “I just hope you kick his ass.” Corbin said that Angle is being unprofessional because he is not supposed to play favorites. Reigns said again that Corbin ran off “like a coward” last week. But Corbin said he chose to be the bigger man and he had already competed earlier in the show. He said that he beat “little tiny” Finn Balor and he can’t possibly think of anything else he could do. Angle said Corbin could have acted like a man last week. Corbin said Angle can’t be trusted. Angle decided to book a match. Roman Reigns vs. Baron Corbin will happen right now.

Corbin took a cheap shot and the match got started.

This match went over 20 minutes and it was pretty good. There were several false finishes. Towards the end of the match, Corbin tried to leave but Finn Balor came out to stomp him before he got to the stage. Reigns hit a Superman punch at ringside and then the spear in the ring. Reigns pinned him to get the win. After the match, Balor nailed Corbin with a double dropkick in the corner and the Coup de Gras off the top rope.

The Kevin Owens Show set was set up away from the ring and next to the stage area opposite from where the announcers are. Owens thanked Mahal for helping become stress-free. Owens said that he and Mahal accomplished something that many others didn’t. Mahal and Owens both beat Braun Strowman. Owens said he will beat Strowman and become Mr. KO In The Bank and then finally reclaim the Universal Championship. Owens says he is at peace and clear headed. He said that Mahal should take on Strowman one more time on tonight’s show because he can beat him again like last week. Owens asked for Strowman to come out. The stage started to shake. It turns out that Strowman was underneath and he tipped it over with everyone on it. Strowman walked to the ring for his match with Mahal.

Reigns talked about his history with Lesnar, starting with their first WrestleMania match in 2015, 2018 and The Greatest Royal Rumble show. In regards to what Lesnar did to Angle and Heyman, Reigns said that there is no leader when you have a champion like Lesnar because he doesn’t respect WWE. If Reigns wins at SummerSlam, he will defend the title, unlike Lesnar. Reigns says he will keep getting up because he has to win.

Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre came out for their match.

Heyman said he considers a friend. He broke down crying and said he didn’t envision things ending like this. Young asked if he had his eye on another client. Heyman said that this situation was inconceivable to him last week. Heyman says he’s known Lesnar for 16 years and he has never seen Lesnar like this, more drive, more focused, and more violent. Heyman says Reigns doesn’t stand a chance against “this” Brock Lesnar.
