Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman Open the Show, Oba Femi Confronts Lesnar

Brock Lesnar opened Raw with Paul Heyman. After a video package recapping last week’s events, Lesnar made his entrance with the Brock Bounce on the stage.

Heyman cut a promo dismissing Oba Femi’s attack from last week, saying Lesnar had already fought through 15 to 20 masked men before being distracted by Seth Rollins, and that Femi simply took advantage of the situation. Heyman called Femi “so overhyped by WWE it invoked his gag reflex.”

Heyman ran through the history of opponents who were supposed to be the one to conquer Lesnar after he ended The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak. “How many times have we heard the same narrative out of the WWE hype machine?” Heyman said, listing Braun Strowman, Dean Ambrose, AJ Styles, and others as examples of challengers who were hyped as the next conqueror and failed. He told Femi directly: “You peaked last week and you will be beaten at WrestleMania. You will be taken to Suplex City. You will be conquered by Brock Lesnar.”

The lights went out and Oba Femi made his entrance. Both men moved to the center of the ring. Lesnar went for an F5 but Femi escaped and clotheslined Lesnar over the top rope to the floor. Heyman tried to calm Lesnar down and keep him from doing anything else to embarrass himself. Lesnar headed to the back as Femi stood tall in the ring.

Dominik Mysterio Promo

A backstage promo aired with Dominik Mysterio ahead of his Intercontinental Championship match against Penta later tonight. Dominik said the match should not be happening and that if it were not for Finn Balor, he would still be the champion. He said Balor got what he deserved. Dominik told Penta that it would not go the same way this time and that he can focus and will win the title back.

The Usos def. Logan Paul and Austin Theory by Disqualification (Non-Title Match)

Austin Theory and Jey Uso started the match. Theory controlled the early portion with a side headlock and shoulder tackle before Jey fired back with a flying forearm. Jimmy tagged in for a double back elbow and double elbow drop. Theory and Logan Paul took over by isolating Jimmy, with Logan choking Jimmy in the ropes and the corner while Theory attacked behind the referee’s back. Logan put his gum on top of Jimmy’s head during a chinlock.

Jimmy fought back with a dragon whip and made the hot tag to Jey, who hit clotheslines and a spit punch on Theory. Theory pulled the turnbuckle pad off during a rollup attempt and hit a rolling elbow and rolling blockbuster for a near fall. Logan crotched Jey on the exposed turnbuckle and sent Jimmy into the ring post.

Logan grabbed brass knuckles, but LA Knight’s music hit. Knight came from behind and sent Logan into the ring steps. Knight gave Jey the brass knuckles and Jey punched Theory, causing the referee to call for the disqualification.

Becky Lynch and AJ Lee Promo Exchange Sets Up WrestleMania Match

Becky Lynch came to the ring and addressed the crowd booing her while cheering someone who abandoned them for a decade. Becky said she understands taking breaks because she took ten months off, not ten years. She said when she came back, she deliberately went for the Intercontinental Title instead of the World Title to make it the most important title in wrestling. She said she is proud of that title and that she made it, and now she has to watch AJ Lee “prance around like she deserves that title” after it was robbed from her at Elimination Chamber.

Becky told a story about taking a break at home with her family, only to find her daughter singing AJ Lee’s “Light It Up” theme song and skipping around the house shaking her hair. She said her daughter does not realize that Becky is the greatest female wrestler. Becky called AJ’s biggest achievement “mastering the Divas’ era” and said she stabbed that era in the heart.

AJ Lee’s music hit and she made her way to the ring. Becky immediately left through the crowd. AJ got on the announce table with a microphone and said every time they have met in the ring, she has walked Becky “like a dog.” AJ said maybe she has to embarrass Becky on the biggest stage to get her out of her life, and offered Becky a match at WrestleMania for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. She said she will show why she is the best of her generation, Becky’s generation, and maybe the next.

Becky responded from the crowd, saying AJ skipped right into her trap and calling her a dope. Becky said WrestleMania is her domain and reminded AJ that the last time she wrestled at WrestleMania, she handed in her resignation the next day and was not heard from for a decade. “At WrestleMania, when I win my title back, I will end you and we will never hear from you again,” Becky said.

Usos and LA Knight Backstage

The Usos thanked LA Knight backstage for his interference in their match. Jey said there are consequences when you mess with them. Knight responded, and Jey told him it is starting to sound like Roman. Jimmy added, “Just like CM Punk is going to find out, mind your words when you talk about his family.”

Je’Von Evans def. Grayson Waller

Evans and Waller had a back-and-forth match with both men trading momentum throughout. Waller controlled portions of the match by targeting Evans’ knee and using the ringside barrier. Evans hit a series of high-flying moves including a slingshot headscissors, a flip dive to the floor, and a swanton off the ringside barrier.

A subplot throughout the match involved Kofi Kingston at ringside with Waller. Waller gestured for Kofi to attack Evans while the referee was distracted, but Kofi refused, saying he did not want to get Waller disqualified. The two had words about it multiple times.

In the closing stretch, Waller hit a flip Unprettier for a near fall and sent Evans shoulder-first into the ring post. Evans fired back with a thrust kick on the turnbuckles, a jumping Frankensteiner, and finished Waller with a double jump cutter for the pin.

After the match, Kofi and Waller had more words.

Paul Heyman Requests Street Fight at MSG, Gets Told to Address Seth Rollins

Paul Heyman approached Adam Pearce backstage and requested a street fight at Madison Square Garden where the Usos defend the World Tag Team Championship against Logan Paul and Austin Theory. Pearce said he would consider it.

Heyman turned to leave, but Pearce stopped him and reminded him that Heyman had previously asked for time to address Seth Rollins, and now is the time. Heyman said he is sick of it all but agreed. Pearce said he is not going to miss Heyman at all.

El Grande Americano Classico Responds

Byron Saxton interviewed El Grande Americano Classico (Chad Gable) backstage. Classico said he would speak in English and called the other Americano an impostor who disrespected everything he stands for last week. He said that is why he did what he did during the Rey de Reyes sword ceremony. “There isn’t enough room for the dos of them,” Classico said. “There is only one original Grande Americano.”

Paul Heyman Addresses Seth Rollins, Rollins Arrested After Attacking Heyman

Paul Heyman came to the ring and said he is having a bad night. He said after a 40-year Hall of Fame career, he is relegated to a contractually obligated appearance in Boston. He said there is no one left to hide behind because Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker will not be back any time soon, Brock Lesnar has left, and Logan Paul and Austin Theory are half conscious.

Heyman said he has a stalker, “a jaded ex named Seth Rollins.” He broke from his usual persona and said despite the character he portrays on television, he is a man who has been pushed too far, and Seth feels the same way. He said WWE is not big enough for the two of them. He clarified this was not a challenge for a match at WrestleMania or a fight tonight, but said maybe it is time Seth Rollins came down and “put him out of his own damn misery.”

A masked man approached the ring and climbed onto the announce table. Heyman told him this was his moment. Seth Rollins pulled off the mask, and staged “Boston Police” immediately told Rollins to get down off the table. Heyman chuckled, realizing the police were planted.

Heyman then escalated his comments, saying Rollins’ family “are snitches and file injunctions” and that Rollins is going to jail. He said because Rollins would be a felon, his wife would divorce him and then marry half the locker room. Heyman then said he would adopt Rollins’ daughter.

Rollins snapped. He broke free from the police, ran to the ring, and took Heyman down. Heyman threw a microphone at Rollins as he charged. Rollins was handcuffed and removed from the ring.

Bayley and Lyra Valkyria def. The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane)

Asuka and Sane controlled the early portion of the match by isolating Bayley, using frequent tags and double-team kicks. Asuka taunted Bayley with pie-faces and Kawada kicks. Sane applied the tarantula and went up top for a forearm. Tension briefly surfaced between the Kabuki Warriors when Bayley kicked Sane into Asuka and Asuka yelled at her partner.

Lyra tagged in hot with a crossbody, an enzuigiri to Asuka, and a sit-out powerbomb on Sane for a near fall. The closing stretch saw both teams trade momentum rapidly. Asuka hit a codebreaker on Lyra followed by a Sane neckbreaker for a near fall. Bayley hit a belly-to-belly suplex on Asuka onto the announce table but missed an elbow drop off the ringside barrier. Lyra dropkicked Sane through the ropes and finished her with Night Wing for the pin.

After the match, Jackie Redmond interviewed Bayley and Lyra in the ring. Lyra told Lash Legend and Nia Jax that they know Bayley and Lyra are the ones who can beat them. Bayley told Nia and Lash that if they are as big and bad as they say, they will be at Madison Square Garden next week.

Intercontinental Championship: Penta (c) def. Dominik Mysterio

Dominik attacked Penta during the introductions to start the match aggressively. Dom controlled the early portion with a slingshot senton and a suicide dive DDT on the floor. JD McDonagh interfered by punching Penta while the referee was pulling Dom away from the ropes.

Penta fought back with chops, kicks, a wraparound bulldog, and a flip dive to the floor. Penta hit the Penta Driver for a near fall. Dom countered with a Michinoku Driver for a near fall of his own and hit a 619 before going up top.

Finn Balor’s music hit and he walked slowly down the aisle. Balor kicked JD and sent him into the LED board. The distraction caused Dom to hesitate on the top rope. He eventually came off awkwardly and Penta caught him in an inside cradle for the pin to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

After the match, Balor got in the ring and kept Dom from escaping. Balor hit a sling blade and a running dropkick. JD pulled Dom out of the ring, but Balor hit a flip dive onto both of them on the floor. Balor sent Dom back into the ring, but JD grabbed Balor. Dom escaped into the crowd. Balor hit JD with a GTR, dropkicked him into the turnbuckles, went up top, and hit the Coup de Grace on JD.
