As seen today during WWE Crown Jewel, Roman Reigns retained the Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar with fans left to still wonder if Paul Heyman was trying to help Reigns or Lesnar.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the match in Saudi Arabia is meant to be just part of the story and with The Rock not expected to return for a match next year, it looks like it will be Reigns vs. Lesnar at WrestleMania.
WrestlingNews.co reported earlier this month that there are no plans for Reigns to drop the title this year. We were told that the idea is to build Reigns into the greatest champion of all-time and to do that, Vince McMahon wants Reigns to hold the record for longest-reigning Universal Champion in company history.
Lesnar has held the title for 504 days and Reigns has held the title for 415 days. He is due to break the record in January before the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
Also, as WrestlingNews.co first reported earlier this month, Lesnar is not scheduled for any more shows this year and his next match is scheduled for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. A few days after our report. WWE announced that Lesnar will be at the Rumble pay-per-view.
