WWE Night of Champions 2015 PPV results: Sting vs. Rollins, Cena becomes U.S Champion, Kane Returns

Renee Young, Corey Graves, Booker T, and Byron Saxton welcome us to the Night of Champions pre-show. Tom Phillips tells us how to use social media. We get a rundown of the key matches that will be taking place on tonight’s show. A recap video package is shown of the John Cena – Seth Rollins feud.

Sheamus cuts a promo backstage about how Seth Rollins will wrestle twice in one night, but that they will be back-to-back as well. He teased cashing in his MITB briefcase.

Kevin Owens was seen backstage cutting a promo about how this is his time and that he’ll become the next Intercontinental Champion. A recap video package is shown of the recent Dolph Ziggler – Rusev – Summer Rae feud.

Six-Man Tag Team Match: Neville and the Lucha Dragons vs. Stardust and The Ascension

Konnor and Sin Cara kicked off the match. Cara went for a springboard dive but was caught and power slammed. Cara with an arm drag, but then tagged in Kalisto. Konnor backed up Kalisto into his corner then tagged in Stardust. He then power slammed Kalisto to the ground and then taunted him. Things breakdown, the babyfaces got the advantage then sent the heels to the floor. Neville took them out with a dive through the ropes.

We cut to a brief commercial break and when we comeback, Stardust is in control of Kalisto. Viktor tagged himself in and hit a big shoulder tackle to Kalisto. Viktor hit a powerslam to follow it up. Stardust tagged in and put the boots to him. Kalisto blocked a powerslam by Konnor and got the hot tag to Neville, who then cleared the ring with his fast-paced offensive style. Neville with a series of kicks then hit a dive off the middle rope for 2 as Konnor broke up the pin attempt. Cara tossed Konnor to the floor then hit a dive through the ropes. Back in the ring, Neville missed a kick and Stardust hit a planning slam for 2. Stardust went for a springboard move but missed. Neville kicked him in the face. He went to the top rope but had to kick Viktor in the face. Stardust shoved Viktor into Neville then hits the Queens Crossbow for the win.

Winners: Stardust and The Ascension.

The New Day take questions from fans that used #savethetables. This was an hilarious segment.  A recap video package is shown of the Wyatt Family – Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose feud. The panel gives their final thoughts to close the pre-show.

Intercontinental Championship match: Ryback © vs. Kevin Owens

They lock up, Ryback uses his strength to his advantage early. Owens with some jabs and chops. Ryback with a power slam then tossed Owens from the ring to the floor. Ouch. Ryback got a “feed me more” chant going with the fans. Ryback went to get Owens, but Owens popped up and sent him shoulder first into the ring post. Back in the ring, Owens covered him for 2. Owens worked over the left arm of Ryback. Moments later, Ryback would fight out of a rest hold with a series of shoulder tackles. Ryback with a power slam for 2.

Ryback went for a powerbomb but blocked by Owens, who hit a back body drop. Owens off the ropes, but was caught by Ryback, who hit a spine buster for 2. The fans get behind Ryback, but when Ryback ran at Owens, he was super kicked in the face for 2. Owens went for his finisher, but Ryback held on to the ropes. Ryback with a clothesline and called for the end. Ryback went for the Shell Shock, but Owens blocked and sent Ryback shoulder first into the ring post for 2. Owens locked in a side armbar, but Ryback got to his feet then hit a power slam to Owens with one arm.

Ryback went for the Shell Shock, but Owens raked the eyes and rolled him up for the win.

Winner and new IC Champ: Kevin Owens.

Singles match: Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev

Rusev dominated the early part of the match with his power. He tossed Ziggler around like a ragdoll. Rusev sent Ziggler face first into the turnbuckle and got some good heat for this as he taunted Ziggler. The fans chant that they want Lana. This upsets Rusev and distracted him. Ziggler hit a suplex to Rusev then sidestepped a charging Rusev in the corner. Ziggler with as series of clotheslines then a neck breaker.

Ziggler with an elbow drop for 2. Rusev cut him off with a power slam then lifted him up in the air, but Ziggler blocked and rolled up Rusev for 2. Ziggler hits the Fameasser for a near fall. Rusev reversed and hit a kick to the side of Ziggler’s head for a near fall. He missed a superkick, which allowed Ziggler to lock in the sleeper hold. Rusev tossed Ziggler off his back.

Ziggler ran at Rusev and hit a spike DDT for a near fall. Ziggler went for a superkick but blocked. Rusev hit one of his own for a near fall. Rusev thinks that he won the match and starts to celebrate. The referee attempts to tell him that he didn’t win the match. Rusev is in disbelief. Rusev went for the Accolade, but Ziggler popped up and hit a superkick for a near fall. Summer Rae jumped on the apron, Rusev pushed Ziggler into the ropes, which sent Rae flying into the ring. The referee sent Rae to the back after she tried to interfere. She threw one of her shoes towards the stage then the second shoe accidentally into the face of Rusev.

Ziggler hit the Zig Zag for the win.

Winner: Ziggler.

The New Day cuts a promo while walking down to the ring about how they have created a save the tables movement. They have also created a petition to save the tables. Some significant names are on that list. The Authority, Jake from State Farm and Bill Nye. Big E claimed that even President Obama signed the petition.

Tag Team Championship match: The New Day © vs. The Dudley Boyz

Devon and Kofi Kingston started things off. Devon with a clothesline then opened up with some right hands to the face of Kingston. Bubba Ray Dudley now tagged in and went for the 3-D, but Kingston held onto the ropes then ducked out to the floor to regroup. Big E tagged in, he got into the ring and walked right into a belly-to-belly suplex by Bubba. Devon tagged in and hit an elbow drop. Bubba hit a suplex from the middle rope to Big E for a near fall. Bubba then took out Kingston and Xavier Woods. This led to Kingston hitting a dropkick to the back of Bubba. Big E and Kingston stomped a mud hole in the chest of Bubba with kicks as Xavier Woods played the trombone. Moments later, Bubba caught Kingston with the Bubba Bomb.

Bubba manages to get the hot tag to Devon, who cleaned house on Kingston. Devon knocked Big E off the apron then planted Kingston. Devon with a series of rights then a flying headbutt. Devon with a big splash in the corner then a flying clothesline. Bubba tagged in, he hit a reverse 3-D to Big E. They then hit the 3-D to Kingston, but Woods ran in and kicked Bubba in the back of the head causing the DQ.

Winners: The Dudley Boyz via DQ.

Post-match, The New Day kicked The Dudley Boyz while they were down then went and got a table out from under the ring. However, The Dudley Boyz fought back and put Xavier Woods through a table with the 3-D.

A video package to hype the Nikki Bella – Charlotte feud.

Divas Championship match: Nikki Bella © vs. Charlotte

They lock up, Nikki tossed Charlotte to the floor, which had Charlotte hurt her left. Nikki with a suplex. Nikki would send Charlotte from the apron to the floor on her back. Back in the ring, Nikki would continue to target the injured leg of Charlotte. Nikki went to the middle rope, she took out the injured left leg with a forearm strike for 2. Nikki locked in a half boston crab submission hold, but the fans got behind Charlotte and motivated her to break the hold. A brawl broke out between Team Bella and Team P.C.B. Nikki with a sleeper to Nikki.

Charlotte broke the hold by just falling on her. Charlotte with a series of knees and chops to the champ. Charlotte with a neck breaker then hit a nasty big boot for a near fall. Charlotte went for a backslide, but Nikki kicked her in her bad leg. Nikki with a knee strike to the face of Charlotte for 2. Nikki with a suplex then a clothesline to Charlotte in the corner. Nikki went to the middle rope but speared in mid-air and locks in the figure eight submission hold for the win.

Winner and new champ: Charlotte.

Post-match, Ric Flair walked down to the ring to celebrate with his daughter in the ring.

Before the mystery man was announced, a crazed fan dressed like them jumped into the ring and was taken out by security.

Six-man tag team match: Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman and Luke Harper.

Ambrose and Harper start things off, Ambrose with a shoulder tackle then tagged in Reigns, who hit a clothesline. Jericho then tagged in and hit a crossbody to Harper Both Reigns and Strowman are tagged in, but reigns does not stand a chance against the big man. The Wyatts beat down Reigns for the next few moments until he managed to get the hot tag to Jericho. This leads to Jericho cleaning house on Bray Wyatt. Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho on Wyatt. However, Luke Harper broke up the submission. Ambrose took him out with a drop kick. Apparently now, Ambrose is the legal man. Ambrose hit a neck breaker to Wyatt. Roman Reigns received the hot tag from Ambrose. Reigns hit a superman punch to the now legal Braun Strowman. Ambrose with a dive off the top rope then a dive through the ropes taking out Harper. Reigns with the spear to Strowman. Jericho tagged himself in and hit the Lionsault to Strowman for the near fall. Wyatt sent Reigns into the barricade.

Jericho went for the Code Breaker, but blocked and Strowman hit a face-first slam then his one arm choke for the win.

Winners: The Wyatt Family.

Post-match, Jericho shoulder checked Ambrose while walking out of the ring.

Seth Rollins is shown warming up in the back. The Authority walked up and told him that they have faith in him as well as telling him that he is the man. Rollins said that he will show everyone why he’s the man. Sheamus walked by and said that he’s ready too.

U.S Championship match: Seth Rollins © vs. John Cena

Both men exchange strikes to begin this match. Rollins with a headlock, he let go and hit a double foot stomp off the top rope to the chest of Cena for 2. Rollins then put the boots to Cena in the corner then taunted the crowd for doing so. Cena rolled up Rollins for 2. Rollins immediately hit a clothesline to Cena. Rollins with a running forearm strike to the face of Cena. Rollins kicked Cena in the gut and went for the pedigree, but blocked and Cena hit a side slam.

Cena hit a front flip into a roll up for a near fall. Cena went for the AA, but Rollins held onto the top rope and then used them to his advantage. Rollins to the top rope, but was knocked down by Cena. Rollins flipped over him and went for a powerbomb, but Cena reversed and hit a hurricanrana. Cena and Rollins exchanged right hands, Cena caught Rollins and went for the AA, but Rollins reversed and hit a superkick to the jaw of Cena for 2. Rollins dumped Cena to the floor then hit a dive over the top rope landing on Cena. Back in the ring, Rollins up to the top rope and went for a frog splash, but Cena rolled out of the way. Cena up to the middle rope and hit a DDT for 2. Cena went to the top rope, but Rollins met him up there and hit a suplex for 2.

Rollins went for the pedigree but blocked and Cena went for a crossbody, but was caught. Rollins went for the AA but blocked and Cena hit a reverse DDT. Cena to the top rope, he hit a leg drop. Cena with the AA for the win.

Winner and new champ: Cena.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship match: Seth Rollins © vs. Sting.

Sting went straight to the ring and tried to lock in his Scorpion Deathlock, but Rollins got to the ropes. He used them to his advantage then hit a crossbody for 2. Sting sent Rollins to the floor. Sting sent Rollins into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Rollins kicked him in the gut. Rollins put the boots to Sting in the corner. Sting reversed an irish whip and clotheslines Rollins out of the ring. Sting then sent him into the barricade. Sting put Rollins on one announce table, but Rollins shoved him backwards and went crashing through the other one.

Back in the ring, Rollins hit a splash of his own in the corner then a sit down suplex for 2. Rollins hit a powerbomb in the corner to sting for a near fall. Rollins went for the pedigree, but blocked and Sting sent Rollins to the apron. Rollins went for a springboard move, but Sting pushed him off and was sent crashing to the floor. Back in the ring, Sting landed a series of right hands then clotheslines. Sting hit the splash in the corner then clotheslines him out of the ring. Sting went to the top rope, he took out Rollins with a crossbody. Back in the ring, Sting hit the Scorpion Death Drop, but Rollins managed to get his foot on the bottom rope. Sting with a splash in the corner then landed a series of right hands in the corner. Rollins power bombed him then he picked up Sting, but Sting just collapsed.

The WWE doctors check on him. Moments later, the doctor leaves, Sting drops Rollins and locked in the Scorpion Deathlock, but Rollins made it to the bottom rope. Rollins with a big kick to the face of Sting. However, sting took Rollins down and went for the Death Lock, but Rollins rolled him up for the win.

Winner and still champ: Rollins.

Post-match, Sheamus ran down to the ring and hit the Brogue Kick to Rollins. All of a sudden, Kane, who is wearing a mask, walked down to the ring. Sheamus got out of the ring, Kane chokeslammed Rollins. Kane then chokeslammed Sheamus. Kane hit a tombstone to Rollins then stood tall over him to close the show.
