WWE Nixed Plans For Becky Lynch And Charlotte Flair Tag Team

Charlotte Flair made her return from injury at the Royal Rumble earlier this year, while Becky Lynch’s comeback was strategically planned for WrestleMania 41. Interestingly, there were also initial creative discussions about pairing Flair and Lynch together on WWE television.

According to a report from PWInsider.com, early pitches envisioned Flair and Lynch forming a tag team. The report stated, “the pitch would have seen them unite around The Royal Rumble and then face IYO SKY and Asuka around WrestleMania, but plans eventually changed.”

However, these plans ultimately did not come to fruition. At WrestleMania 41, Flair competed in a singles match for the Women’s Championship against Tiffany Stratton and was unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Lynch teamed with Lyra Valkyria and defeated the then-champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez to capture the Women’s Tag Team Titles.

The landscape of the Women’s Tag Team Championship picture shifted dramatically on the subsequent episode of Monday Night Raw. In a rematch, Morgan and Rodriguez successfully regained their titles from Lynch and Valkyria. Following this title change, a surprising turn of events occurred as Becky Lynch turned heel, attacking her tag team partner.
