WWE nixed plans for Kevin Owens on Friday Night SmackDown

This week marked the start of the build to the confrontation between Kevin Owens and Steve Austin at WrestleMania 38 next month. The former Universal Champion issued the offer for the WWE Hall Of Famer to appear on his KO Show this past Monday on Raw, which Austin accepted in a video the following day.
WWE had plans for Owens on this week’s episode of SmackDown even though he’s a Raw star as Fightful Select reports Owens was listed for an in-ring promo on the run sheet.
However, WWE just aired a video package to recap the feud between Owens and Austin. The removed promo was said to be produced by Jason Jordan.

It’s unclear why Owens’ in-ring promo was nixed from the show, but it was reported that Vince McMahon was very hands on with SmackDown this week and there were various changes made to the script.
