WWE Nixed Segment From Last Week’s SmackDown

While Cody Rhodes delivered a powerful promo about John Cena’s heel turn on the March 7th episode of WWE SmackDown, a planned backstage interaction with Rhodes and R-Truth was ultimately cut.

Rhodes cut a promo in response to Cena’s heel turn at Elimination Chamber when he sided with The Rock. Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Cena at WrestleMania.

Fightful reports that internal run sheets had listed the segment, but it didn’t materialize. When Fightful asked about the omission, no definitive reason was given. However, backstage speculation suggested that the segment would have taken away from the impact of Rhodes’ preceding emotional promo.

This decision came after a well-received backstage interaction between Rhodes and R-Truth the previous week, which played on R-Truth’s admiration for John Cena.
