WWE not expected to release Mustafa Ali for at least 2 and a half years

Fans hoping to see Mustafa Ali pop up in another wrestling promotion may have to wait a long time. Per Ali’s Twitter, fans may not see him again until 2 and a half years from now.

Ali tweeted, “i’ll see ya all in like 2 1/2 years.” That appears to be the time remaining on his current contract and if WWE stays firm on not granting his release, then he will have to sit at home for that amount of time if the company opts not to use him on TV.

Ali hasn’t been seen on WWE television since early November. There were plans for him to start a “New America” storyline where Ali talked about being stereotyped. The angle was scrapped and it was later reported that something was pitched to him that he was adamant about not wanting to do. This led to a heated argument with Vince McMahon and he hasn’t been used since.

Ali also stated last month that he did not want to be in the Royal Rumble and he simply wanted to have his release granted. WWE has released a few people who have asked for (Toni Storm, for example) it but in general, they don’t grant requests especially when the wrestler goes public on social media so this may be why Ali is being forced to complete the length of his contract.
