This confirmation follows recent speculation fueled by an ominous promo from Shotzi and her profile being moved to the WWE website’s Alumni section.
According to the May 3, 2025 update from Fightful Select, the decision by WWE was reportedly an “expected move” from Shotzi’s perspective. Sources indicated that she prepared for this outcome, specifically crafting the cryptic video promo released earlier this week in anticipation of the news.
This development regarding Shotzi’s status occurred amidst a significant wave of talent cuts implemented by WWE on May 2nd. While Shotzi’s situation involves a non-renewal rather than an immediate release, it coincides with the confirmed departures of numerous performers across the main roster and NXT. Notable names released include former Universal Champion Braun Strowman, former NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler, Dakota Kai, former Women’s Tag Team Champions Katana Chance and Kayden Carter, Cora Jade, Gigi Dolin, and the Gallus faction (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang), among others. Fightful Select noted that WWE sources initially claimed “no move was official” regarding Shotzi when first inquired just before these other releases happened, but the decision not to renew her contract “since has been made,” solidifying her impending departure once her current deal concludes.
