WWE NXT Championships to Be Defended at This Year’s SummerSlam?

It looks like WWE NXT may be involved in the build of this year’s SummerSlam premium live event in August from Ford Field in Detroit, MI.

While WWE is currently building to the August 1st Money in the Bank PLE, the company is also setting its sights on the second biggest event of the year for them.

WWE has already advertised the likes of Brock Lesnar and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns for the show. Logan Paul is returning to TV next week, with his next match rumored to take place at SummerSlam.

Insider account Boozer (#BWE), which has broken past WWE stories, reported that “discussions going around to have two NXT titles involved in SSlam or during SSlam week.”

No other details were provided, nor which championships could be on the line, although the NXT Title, held by Carmelo Hayes, and the NXT Women’s Title, held by Tiffany Stratton, would be logically the favorites to be defended.

WWE NXT Great American Bash, NXT’s next PLE, takes place on July 30.

WrestleTix reported on Tuesday that SummerSlam has sold 40,586 tickets with 5,121 tickets remaining.
