WWE NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes vs. Ilja Dragunov was booked at this year’s WWE NXT No Mercy 2023 premium live event from the Mechanic Banks Arena in Bakersfield, CA.
Dragunov got the early advantage. Hayes fought back and they did a series of moves. Hayes caught him with a head kick then a springboard bulldog for 2. Dragunov with a powerbomb that popped the crowd. Dragunov went coast-to-coast, but Hayes went for a codebreaker, but Dragunov caught him and sent him into the corner. Dragunov hit coast-to-coast for 2. Dragunov went to the top rope, but Hayes knocked him down. They traded shots and Dragunov hit a superplex off the middle rope. Dragunov with an H-bomb for two. The crowd was on the edge of their seats for all of the falls. Dragunov with a second H-bomb while bloody for 2. Hayes with a superkick for 2. They did a cutter spot on the floor. Back in the ring, Dragunov with a super H-bomb for the win.
